Congrats on the new ride! - Hopefully, this aftermarket center console will prove to be a good resolution: Our Products

Ill be a buyer of any coat hook / valet system you can come up with. I also think you need a backseat center arm rest/cup holder unit.

- - - Updated - - -

I lay my dry cleaning flat in the back. There is always too much for a hook anyway, and I don't want to block visibility. I hang my coat on the passenger side seat, also not to block visibility. Works fine for me and is the same routine as my former car that did have hooks. There are definitely some things my other car had that the S does not. It didn't take long to adjust.

How are you "hanging" it exactly? I'm less worried about dry cleaning and more concerned about my sportcoats/suit coat if the day.

I live in Northeast Wisconsin and will be taking delivery at my home. I don't want to risk the drive with the high performance tires and any chance of snow (I want to wait until fall to get a winter rim/tire set). Plus, the range might be pushing it for my first drive. I must say, I am excited to take delivery at my house but I do feel a little obnoxious taking delivery at my house. Hopefully it happens during the day in the middle of the week so it doesn't attract attention from the neighbors. While I enjoy my Chevy Volt, I certainly miss my 06 M5 (sold) so I'm really excited to get my MS and have it fill that itch for me.

How about you, are you doing the home delivery? Also, Does anyone know if the cars drop ship right from the factory to your house or do the cars ship from the Chicago Service Center? Have any owners had good/bad experiences with the Chicago Service Center detailing their cars prior to delivery (any damage to the paint or interior)? Usually I ask dealers not to prep my cars, as I have never had a good experience (I like my new cars without swirl marks).

BTW, I did see a Tesla in Milwaukee as I was driving through yesterday. I know they are popular in California, but that was the first one I saw on the road in the midwest.

Go for home delivery. I assume that the MS will be driven up from Chicago (trailered) to my home. I agree you should have home delivery. To do otherwise is "crazy".

A MS in Milwaukee???? Nice!

I have a 2012 Volt and find it to be wondwerfully done compact car.

I called Owner Experience to ask whether my HPWC would arrive before my Model S. The person I spoke to said "Well, let me take a look. It looks like your car will roll off the line right at the end of March and should be delivered two weeks later..." I was excited to get a semi-official estimate of my ship date. I ordered on 2/18. BTW, he said that I probably wouldn't have the HPWC in time.

I went out of the country for a few days and the first day gone I see my VIN appear on the app. One day later they are setting delivery date. I was going to do a factory pick up, but not a good time so changed to service center. Looks like I will get it this Sat or Sun. Delivery window was March 1 through 15√ looks like they hit it for me. 85 none perf, everything else except 21 inch and child seats.

Sweet Beano! Glad to hear someone else here is getting one in SD. I should be getting mine a week later. I can't wait.

Got my delivery button today! Funny that I can't review my answers on the site or see it in a confirmation email. Anyway:

Hmm. Ok. I've been tracking assigned VINs lately because it is a good way to keep track of production rate. But after this change, I'll have to switch to just tracking VINs found in the app since that is the only way to know if the car has entered production.

So my two most spaced data points before this change is then:
Jan.17th 3832
Feb. 17th 6004

2172 cars in a month, 70 per day and thus 490 per week. Nice

After using the app as data points:
Feb.5th 4874
Feb. 21st 6004 (same as above but found in the app at this date)

71 cars per day, 494 per week.

The production rate seems very consistent and probably a lot closer to 500/week than 400/week.

Very interesting analysis.

Applying this approach and assuming a 7 day production week (assumed in your calculation above, but is that actually the case?), I should get a VIN via app on ~ Monday. Here's my math: I'm VIN 6302, so if 6004 went into production on Thursday (2/21), I should get into production after about 300 more cars are built, so about 4.25 days @ 70 cars/day. Depending on where 6004 was in the production order on Thursday, that means ~ Monday. I'll report back.

Vin showed up in the app late yesterday (Wed). This either suggests a 5 day production week, <70 per day production or variability in linking app to car in production.

Hans, I'd call them. I can't see my answers online, but received an email right away when I finished the questionnaire. I also received my delivery button yesterday, with a delivery date similar to yours. Are you in New England by any chance? Wondering if we would be on the same truck.

Ok, that gives 65 per day or ~454 per week. Still closer to 500 than 400 ;)

And yes, short term data will be skewed by weekends. A 9 day period for example can contain 4 weekend days or only 2.

Feb.5th to Feb.27th contain 6 weeked days. If I remove those I get 446 per week, pretty close to the 454 previously computed.

I'm a little confused by the VIN's. I'm #6273 which I was told went into production early this week and this morning it finally showed up on both my Android and iPhone app (Yes, I'm one of those checking almost every hour). I was also told the car would finish production the end of this week with a projected pickup date of March 15ish in Seattle. However, I've seen on this forum VIN's in the 66xx range already being delivered in places like Texas. Either the VIN's don't truly represent the sequence of production on the line, or somehow the cars are staged in the production after they actually start production sequencially.

Anyone have solid info as to the stage of production for a car when it shows up on the Andriod/iPhone app? Is it at the beginning, middle or end of the run?

I'm picking up at the factory in Fremont. I did receive an email confirming factory pickup, but nothing else confirming my other answers to the delivery questionnaire.

Was it perhaps the VIN reported in this post? http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/9489-Model-S-Delivery-Update?p=285553&viewfull=1#post285553

If so, it was a typo. It was VIN 5566.
