Well... I got my car on the 26th and it broke down on the 30th. The dashboard and the display panel both went crazy while i was driving on the freeway. Couldn't turn on the headlights (there was fog), or any of the other accessories, dashboards started displaying error lights, the wrong speed, and even went blank at one point. Fortunately the car still drove fine and I was able to pull off and contact roadside assistance.
I called the service center several times but was unable to talk to anyone. I asked the tow truck driver to drop me off at home since it was on the way to the service center.
Finally, the next day we made the 30 minute drive out to the service center since that appeared to be the only way to speak with anyone. We were informed that the service center was closed all week until Thursday the 2nd. It would have been nice if the phone announcement could have been updated to let customers know this...
Fortunately, there was a service guy there and they were able to take a brief look at the log of the car's telemetry on a laptop (which is pretty cool). But they weren't able to determine what was wrong.
My brand new car is now sitting at the service center waiting for repairs. :-(

A bit late but took delivery of my first Tesla, a 2020 Long Range on December 21st. Had a couple of paint imperfections from the factory as uncovered when paint correcting (decided to just live with it). Also had a couple of badly scuffed/scratched trim panels on delivery, filed a service request for it on the 22nd. Tesla service finally came out today to get them replaced. Otherwise, I am loving the car!View attachment 500741

The purpose of this thread is to:

Post a quick update of the most recent delivery data including the highest reported VIN (include your country if outside the USA) shown in Wiki post #2 below:

Update, 17 June 2018: @Troy says: The old Model S spreadsheet was not maintained for a long time. Therefore I expanded the Model X spreadsheet to include the Model S too. Here are the links:

Spreadsheet: Model S/X Order Tracker
Google form: MS form to enter/edit data
How to filter and sort: Youtube video
This project is managed by @Troy aka /u/Teslike

The old Model S sheet is here. It shows data until June 2018.

Exactly 2 months

Simple newbie questions. I just ordered a Model S yesterday (Saturday) and got the confirmation email.
1) when is the first time that Tesla will contact me about anything?
2) when do you get a delivery date?
3) when does my order show in the app?
4) any other preliminary advice?
Thank you, and I look forward to this site.

Having been through the process twice, it should go something like this:

1) on your owner’s page at tesla.com you should have a list of 5 or so tasks to complete. The way title is to be taken, uploaded copies of all registered owners’ driver’s licenses, proof of insurance, loan application etc. Don't apply for a loan (if going through Tesla) until you’re sure of a delivery date. Your delivery specialist ("DS”) will give you better information on timing
2) your delivery date any be a little elusive. A "delivery specialist" should be reaching out to you shortly by email and could give you an estimate. As the day nears, you should get an email congratulating you on your purchase and asking for your availability. I understand that once the car arrives at your delivery center you have 3 days to pick it up or it may be sold. Again, the DS will advise you.
3) your order should be in the app by now. Keep checking. It will show a reservation number, "RN12345." Use this when communicating with Tesla, although they can identify you by your email. You might know when your car is being built when you get a VIN assigned on Your account. However, my last car which delivered December 2020 didn’t show VIN until delivery day. That was a hectic quarter because the federal tax credit was ending. Also, some folks were getting the cars/deliveries reassigned based on location and inventory.
4) preliminary advice. The wait is frustrating, although it looks like cars are being shipped in 2-4 weeks. Typically, cars going to Europe get shipped first, then cars going to the East coast next. I’d wager you’ll see your car in 3 weeks given your location (don’t hold me to that). The wait is frustrating, but worth it in the end.

Watch as many YouTube videos on the car as you can because the Delivery Center may be slammed with deliveries and you won’t get too much instruction.

Make sure to thoroughly inspect the car before signing anything. Tesla will fix anything you find, but that may not be so easy once you drive away.

Thank you very much for your help, much appreciated.

Ordered new Model S Performance Jan 8, 2020 - still waiting. Finally got a text message last week to schedule a delivery date (March 20 or later were the only dates available) - but they said that is a "soft date" and can change. No VIN showing up anywhere on the account yet. They did tell me to complete as many steps as possible on the account to help speed up the process, but not sure if that did anything or not. Someone else on this forum ordered the same car on Jan 18 and got his already. So I'm not sure how this all works.

If the other person was located back east that would explain the earlier delivery. Your delivery date is consistent with Tesla’s scheduling, which means we in the western states get late quarter deliveries, regardless of when placing the order. As to the VIN, I didn’t get mine until the day before my delivery, and only after I texted someone.

Cool - thanks for the insight ScottRoberts33. Losing my friggin' mind waiting for this thing! I sold my car at about week 4 since the website said "2-5 weeks" wait time - wow - that was a mistake. At the time I didn't know the details about how they deliver offshore first, etc...

The cruel irony is if you placed your order today your delivery date would probably be the same.

Can anyone suggest what to do... completed everything online on 6th Feb received a text delivery 3 - 6 weeks
13th Feb - Text Delivery timing update 3 -6 weeks
26th Feb - Delivery center changed to Lynwood, Seattle
9th March - Text Delivery 2-3 weeks
Called up TESLA customer care on 14th - they said now someone in factory will work on the order... still 2-3 weeks hold goods as per them

Any idea what's going on... anyone experienced the same.. or going through the same state.

I ordered my MS around the same day and still waiting. 10 days after ordering got a text saying 2-6 weeks. Last Friday got a text saying delivery will happen in a few days (no specific date mentioned) and delivery team will contact. Delivery will be done directly at home. Called up my Sales guy, he says he can see VIN but reluctant to give it to me as it may change. This is my 6th week from ordering I think.

With shut down today in bay area I think it will not happen for next 4 weeks...i guess so

This is my worry. I ordered a couple weeks back and was told I would take delivery by end of month (end of Q1). The lease is up on my other MS, so if they go dark for 4 weeks I'm assuming I won't take delivery until end of the end of June (end of Q2).

Hopefully they adjust and continue delivery from where they left off once everyone returns to work.
