I've got this on my dashboard. Does this mean the car is on a truck or that its in my city??

Production Complete
Your Model S is being prepared for pickup or delivery.

Not necessarily. It flips to this status after production completes, and, in my case, showed that status before it got loaded on a truck and after it got delivered to me. So, I think this status could mean anything between post production complete and pick-up at your delivery location. Your Delivery Specialist will have access to more reliable and up to date status...mine was able to tell me when the car was on a truck and how many days it would take to reach my delivery city.

Thanks, Shredder. That very much works for me. My garage is still in progress and we're not ready for the newcomer yet! Mostly, I was curious.

I will certainly pass on "paying the car" until delivery.

I paid via the website (electronic check) 1 week before scheduled pickup, just to be on the safe side; I believe you need to allow at least 24 hours for a wire transfer and probably at least 3 business days for electronic check, but I didn't want to take any chances on delaying my pickup date. Definitely ask the DS directly on when you should pay to avoid pick-up delays, and then add a couple days ahead of that estimate so you don't get burned. I didn't read the other thread @shredder mentioned, which may give you better advice, but I wanted to play it safe and wasn't fearful of Tesla running off with my money or collecting a few extra days of interest (which amounts to jack diddly nowadays anyway).

Along that line, because I have gotten my loan from the bank already, I am technically already paying for the car even though I don't have it yet, nor does Tesla have the money yet. My first payment will be Apr 8th, and I am already accruing interest... oh well, in the end it just means I will pay my car off like 1 month earlier than if I had delayed it by 30 days or whatever.

Although my dashboard says "sourcing" I called my DS, and turns out mine is in "pre-production" and no more changes can be made (which is good). She said to call back in a week where she expects to let me know about an early delivery!!

Very cool. My VIN is just below yours at 342xx and I haven't heard anything yet. I don't want too early, but I could go a few days. I'm still getting everything in order here with my power situation.

Blaze, thanks for the details. It appears that production is a bit longer than usual. Based on the tracking sheet, I've been seeing 4-5 days from when In Production to Production Complete.

I think there is a problem with my car. Status changed to in production on March 1st. On March 4th my DS called and the the delivery was moved up to March 8th. On March 7th, my DS said the car was not ready, and changed the delivery to March 11th. On March 10th, The DS called and said the car had not cleared inspection and would not be delivered on March 11th. The DS has rescheduled for March 12th. The DS will call tomorrow (March 11th) to re-confirm the March 12th date. The DS did not have specifics. This appears to be unusual.... CONCERNED .

Blaze, have faith. Maybe they want to use extra care in assembling yours together!

Also, Blaze, if they found some build issue with your car, I would think it is much better that they fix it properly before delivery, instead of you having to bring the car back in a few days. Looks like Tesla is simply making sure everything is OK with your car!

Yeah, your car is probably getting more scrutiny than most now so hopefully your current delay is made up for by not being one of the people who has to post: "Has anyone ever had x noise when y happens?". Of course I'm hoping I'm not going to be one of those people. I'm still living a long way from any service centers.

@Bamnooil. and all others Unloaded my S today at 10:00 am. I met driver at Tractor Supply. They are in a closed Simi. He had a Blue S red Brake C, Std wheels. He headed to Charlotte. Is this yours?
