Model S Reservation Tally

Check the Tesla Website. If there are about 34-37 founders series, then there have been about 40 signature special deliveries.
A couple corrections:
1. I thought there were 41 founders. So.. 74-41... 33 SSL.
2. "successfully manufactured our 100th production Model S, of which 74 are for delivery to our first reservation holders" This doesn't mean delivered. This means "intended for delivery."

In short, at most 33 SSLs have been delivered, but it's likely less than that have actually been handed over to owners.

It was my understanding that reservation holders would be notified about 30 days ahead to choose a delivery date. Have you received any such notification?

From the email I received today (8/22):

"Thank you for reaching out to us regarding Delivery of your Model S. Currently you are looking at an early September timeframe for delivery of your car. As we get closer to that date, a Delivery Experience Specialist in your area will get in touch with you and discuss a few pre-delivery items such as charging, location, and financing. It’s very exciting knowing the countdown is on and we can’t wait to get you your Model S!"

Did anyone else see this over at the TM site under the Dallas Amped thread? Someone has been putting some miles on their Model S

"Maybe my mood will change over time. Right now I only have about 600 miles on my awesome Model S"

I've seen a couple of people quote 30 days, but I was originally told by Tesla "a couple of weeks prior to delivery", which I'm quite happy with. Also, I didn't find anything about 30 days on my paperwork or on the website.

I am Sig #71 (not special), and was just quoted "Early September" for delivery.

As a Roadster owner, you're a Sig Special.

Scheduled Delivery Date. The date set forth in this Agreement for dleivery of the Vehicle is an estimated date, and does not represent an affirmation or promise that the Vhicle will be delivered to you on that exact date. We will not be liable for failure to deliver, or delay in delivering, the Vehicle that is covered by this Agreement where such failure or delay is due, in whole or in part, to any cause beyond our control, that is not the result of our negligence. We will notify you when your vehicle is ready for delivery, and, unless we are in breach of this Agreement, you hereby agree to schedule and take delivery of your vehicle within 30 days of such notification.
I believe this is where the "30 days" reference is coming from.

As for the "3 months", that comes from here:
Model S / Facts said:
Reservation Holders will be invited to configure their Model S about three months before its production date.

So, unless I'm misreading...
1. Reservation holder is contacted
2. Within 30 days they can finalize, or defer
3. If not deferring, your production date is not delayed even if you wait until day 29 to finalize
4. As the vehicle nears readiness, the commited reservation holder is informed and scheduling is discussed
5. The reservation holder must pick a date on or before (#4 + 30 days) to avoid being potentially considered delinquent and risking losing reservation and $10k (Sig) or $5K (non-Sig) deposit

So the eager-responder (to #1) vehicle arrival schedule is something like...
reservation_contact_date + fractional_day + around 3 months + 1_to_30_days

FWIW, my recent inquiry indicated that I should expect delivery in late September/early October (give or take). I am regular Sig 92 in Florida. So I am assuming that there is some bunching of orders for transport to FL (e.g. Sig 92 and Sig 120 may be delivered together) and that it takes an extra few days for transport vs. CA delivery. This compares to an anecdotal originally related timeframe of early September (slight possibility of end of Aug). So I make it a few weeks behind for early reservation holders, though one imagines that given the described curve of the ramp-up that the year's target is still achievable.

Parties all over Florida in September?

I'm happy to host one in Miami (Coral Gables area)!

Count me in!!

Although it will take a few days to transport cars from Fremont to Florida, it's actually better that we have so much volume down here because it's much lower cost for them to ship a bunch of cars at once rather than buy space for one or two cars on another car hauler. So whatever time we lose in distance we probably make up for in the fact that Tesla can send fully loaded car haulers to the Tesla store here for prep and delivery.

I've also wondered about to what degree Tesla would wait to batch cars for delivery. In the early stage of production batching could result in a bit of a delay between Florida Signatures. On the other hand if the ramp up is as significant as discussed there would be much less of a delay in filling a carrier.

Just among our known club membership I count 9 cars across the state with reservation numbers less than S-450 (with one of the 9 already delivered).

I wouldn't be surprised if the Tampa service center opens soon. So if there was a group of say 8 cars on the carrier they could drop off the West Coast and Central Florida cars there first before continuing on to Dania Beach for the East Coast cars.

Larry

P.S. To complete the picture, there are another 7 club members with Signature reservation numbers of over S-450. So that would be enough for another carrier.

Of course I'm sure there are lots of Florida Signature reservation holders that I don't know about.

Larry and I were talking the other day about deliveries. I'm going to organize some sort of celebration with friends/neighbors (might be small, might be bigger), but plan to invite other local reservation holders who'd like to come see the new car. I think it's a great way to support the Tesla community and helps EV-angelize; it would be great if others around FL want to replicate. Once we know dates we can start to post details in the FL community sub-forum.

The more, the merrier!

Speaking about throwing delivery parties:

I've gone back and forth on this. I would love to have people over to welcome the Model S and see the whole delivery presentation and whatnot, but I also really feel like I need to be able to concentrate on whatever the Delivery Specialists are telling me, and not acting as a "host" to people. I've gone so far as to think that I want to do it during the school day so my kids aren't even there to distract me.

OTOH, anyone who knows me knows how long I've been waiting for this car, and it would tremendous to turn it into a bit of an "event", not to mention great publicity for Tesla. Fortunately, I have some time to decide and will wait to hear how the delivery process goes for others, and that may help me decide whether I can afford the distraction of having lots of people around during the delivery process.

Dude, you'll have a store down the road where you can ask questions etc. I'm envious!

You're right -- I see the storefront every day on 95 on may way to/from work, and I forget how rare it is to live so close to one. It's like when I lived in DC and after a few months stopped looking at the monuments as I drove past them.

What's crazier is, by the time I get my car in October, I'll have a store to the south of me and a service center to the north -- I'm right about equidistant between them.

I have a feeling that I'll end up with a get-together of some kind because my kids will insist on being there, and they'd be a much bigger distraction than any number of adults, so it may be in my interest to have friends come over with their kids to keep my kids (somewhat) distracted.
