They moved the showroom in Walnut Creek across the street just recently and I peeked in to see a white X there. So I dropped in with my wife to torture myself more about how my delivery date keeps getting delayed.

There were other people there inquiring about the X and the employees there didn't have their facts straight so I found myself answering questions that they couldn't answer. (ie: "the back of these seats look really nice, but wont they get a lot of scuffs on them?" Employee "Hmmm. not sure about that one....." ME "what a lot of owners are doing is get a clear protective wrap on them called xpel ultimate. Its an awesome product, and you cant even tell that its there.")

Employees asked how I knew so much about the X
. I shamefully told them I've been waiting for my X for quite some time now and i'm on these forums all the damn time.

So for a good 15 mins I worked as a volunteer for Tesla as a rep while employees took a break as no questions were being directed towards them.
=========================================================================================================

Fairly new to Tesla family (test drove an X several years ago but didn’t move forward since felt too low/small for me) and perhaps this is just emblematic of Gen Y but.....I find that their young sales force know so little about their products and do not take the initiative to utilize forums such as these for enhancing their knowledge. FWIW: That lack of knowledge would never have teen tolerated in organizations I worked for/ran in my career.

I'm Gen Y. But I know what you mean. =P

Impression of my Night Hawk X after a few days.
1. The X is much larger than I thought. Even after the reveal, and a "meet the X" drive, I didn't appreciate the girth until I backed in the garage. My single door is a standard 8' --- 96". So with the mirrors out, there is about 2 inches on each side clearance. Some recommended folding the mirrors, but need them to determine the side of the car. Getting better at the process.

2. I am a "car" guy. That is I wash and clean my own car and have special micro-fiber cloths for the body, another type for the windows, special Meguire's auto products and window cleaning (Invisible Glass).
a. Cleaning the front windshield is a challenge to say the least.... at 5'9", I have to use a step ladder to reach the center of that mammoth
piece of glass.
b. The X is higher than my previous Audi Q7 -- That in itself is not a challenge. However, cleaning above the FWDs is unique to say
the least. Get out the step ladder again to clean the widows in the FWD...... want my passenger to view the moon smug free.
c. Between the FWD, Trunk, the Frunk as well as the normal doors there are more nooks and crannies on the X to detail. I can now
appreciate the challenge Tesla must have felt trying to get all the parts to fit -- seals, covers, grommets and such. All places where
Georgia pollen hides.

3. The best way to appreciate and inspect one's car is to wash and wax it. That's where ones sees all the imperfections. There are some on my X, somethings aren't as "tight" as other $130K long time manufacturers. But none were objectionable. I found no paint or
clear coat issues.

4. No issues with the FWDs. They operate as advertised. As do the front doors. I did, however, have to re-teach the front windows
up and down limits with the help of the SC. The fit for the doors, Frunk, trunk, all are good. No issues with wind noise (after re-teaching)
the windows. Car is truly quiet, save some road noise on rough payment.

5. Driving is OUTSTANDING! It accelerates smoothly, corners steadily and U-turns tightly. The Autopilot is phenomenal. I used TACC in route to the golf course in "rush hour" traffic. I was not stressed in the stop and go not having to brake and accelerate to keep up as traffic ebbed and flowed. The regen ( familiar with my Karma) works perfectly, slows the massive X reliably. The X handles like a sedan -- I only experienced that with the Audi Q7 (built on a car chassis).

6. After 2 + years of watching the forums at least 10 times a day and night. I find myself paying more attention to enjoying the car, and little time on the forums. Not that the forums matter less, but enjoying the X more. There is a lot to learn since I didn't previously own a Model S. The operation is intuitive. After a few days, most operations of second nature. Some I had to think about.... i.e: I was using a hose to wash the car..... don't have the FOB in the pocket and accidentally open the front door.. When detailing, removing the FOB AND Cell phone (Tesla App) and pressing the Power Off mode while the doors are open. I will have to take care of that next week when at the Xpel dealer.

All in All... the X was more than worth the 2 year wait, all the nights and weekends scanning the forums and news. I hope all those waiting, scanning the forum at 3 AM and keeping @ohmman company, begin the transition to enjoying. I will be here a few times a week.... just to learn more about the X and Tesla..

@Aljohn thanks so much for this encouraging write-up, some of the natives were getting restless with all the negative media circulating lately. Glad to hear Night Hawk X is in tip top shape. Keep with the forums and don't forget the little people :) we love hearing about the experience.

Really?!? You test-drove an X several years ago?

Here's a pic of the paint rubbing off my spoiler arm. I'd check for this when taking delivery.

Hahhaha I can totally relate to that. While in the line at the Tesla store here in San Diego I started answering a bunch of questions and soon had people being redirected to me as the Tesla guy/specialist.

I will see your Georgia pollen and raise you Sierra Foothills oak and pine pollen, plus what blows in from all the crops in the Central Valley of California.

Nice writeup BTW.

Maybe so. We are slightly down this year from our normal April pollen count of more that 6,100 parts per cubic meter. We had rain this year, otherwise the car would become yellow/green in an hour. Here the rain washing down the street is actually Yellow. At the peak, the pollen can be seen blowing like a dust storm from the pine trees. If California's is as bad or worst, my sympathy. So the X's filtration is a blessing -- not quite Bio Defense needed yet.

I can relate to that....NC pine trees create "snow" days.....

Latest update from Dania Beach SC is that upon QC inspection several problems were found with our X. Doors were not aligned, doors were not closing all the way, bubbles in the clear coat and several other items. When I pressed for more information as to an itemization of what all the problems were I was told they were too many to list. :( To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. They have said that it will take "a few more weeks" to iron out the issues, they said they will be sending the car to a local body shop. When I asked if it was just the alignment of the doors, he was very hesitant and said no, we have quite a few more issues than that. When I expressed that I was hoping an X with so many glaring quality issues would have left the factory his response was "we're a new company with a new product and we are trying to work out the kinks but a fe slip through the cracks. Its new technology and we are doing the very best to deliver a good product, we caught all the errors on inspection and the body shop will have it back to us in a few weeks and we will be sure to deliver to you the best car possible".
Seriously?!?!? I wanna scream!!!! Why the..... am I paying for $100+k for a car that is going to a body shop before it even gets to me. Now even after I take delivery I'll be paranoid about every single time something is even slightly awry.
I've asked for a detailed list of all the "repairs" it will be getting while at the body shop. I have a few choice words right now....out of severe frustration, but I'll just keep them to myself.....because none are good.....not one!
If I didn't take delivery do I lose my $5k? If I cancelled this reservation and placed a new one I'm looking at the back of the line aren't I? TESLA GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!!!!

Hi everyone...

I've been lurking for a while...never really post anything.

So let me say this...I'm not new to ordering a car and waiting and waiting and watiting. Invariably, something always delays the vehicle. I waited for my previous Audi RS5 after ordering...and I waited for my Charger Hellcat. It was hell...until I could finally drive the vehicle.

That being said...I don't understand something...and maybe someone can shed light on this. My good friend and I both ordered Model Xs. I pushed him and convinced him of how great the company and their product is.

I confirmed my vehicle in January...he did a FULL MONTH LATER.

Guess who took delivery yesterday?....yet I'm sitting here...and know nothing of my vehicle. The stupid mytesla website still says late april/may...but his website still said that SAME THING as they were still driving to pick up their x! obviously that's a useless estimate.

My DS as of last week says he sees nothing. Not in production...nothing.

There are only a few difference between our vehicles. I ordered the 22" rims and upgraded sound. That's it. He lives in Oregon and i live in Florida. while I understand delivery times will differ because of transportation times...how is it that he got his delivered and I'm sitting here with an order that apparently hasn't even gone into production?

So frustrating....any ideas?

I understand your frustration. I share the same view. I have the same issue. On this site, people are kind enough to share whatever information they can find from all sources, which it is useful and helps. But, Tesla, release or shares very little information.

Once you ordered it, they will never give it back even if is their own wrong act. If you decide to do so, you are looking at June or July delivery on new orders, which in your case, it is not the worst choice to consider. But, I do hope Tesla will fix all the issues and you can finally say "I am happy".

@Leodoc I am in similar position... I think being on the east coast messes with our car karma! (that's as good a guess as any).... I am seeing some X's being delivered on east coast...so there is hope... I'll be contacting my DS next week to ck on status.
