Model X September Deliveries

So, I picked up my Model X on 09/19/16 as was initially scheduled at the Orlando location. The car is near perfect with some minor issues as mentioned below. I will be scheduling a service appointment to have them fixed once I drive the car for a couple of weeks to see if anything else pops up.

Other than this, this car is nothing like I have ever experienced. Other users have posted their long reviews of the car. So, I don't think I need to do that except to say that I agree with all the positive that others have mentioned.

Below are the issues I have experienced so far:
  1. Microphone doesn't seem to be connected during the production. The voice commands as well as blue tooth phone calls are not working. I have reset both the touch screen and the odometer screen multiple times without much luck. I have read on other posts that this issue has happened before.
  2. The ceiling glass on the driver side FWD is misaligned when compared to the glass piece that runs between the B pillars when you look on top of the car on the outside. The FWD glass seems to be depressed. No water leak into the compartment though so far as I have driven it in the rain.

Some things that are a TINY bit disappointing but not deal breakers are:
  1. Upgraded sound system is not on par even with other upgraded systems in other cars. I used to drive a Lexus with the Lexus upgraded premium system, but not their Mark-Levinson system. I feel like that system does a TINY bit better job at playing music from the blue tooth phone. Other users have already mentioned this and said the true review of the Tesla system should happen only after listening to loss-less audio played from the USB as it will blow your mind away. The reality though is that most users use their blue tooth enabled devices to listen to music and not connect a USB loaded only with loss-less files.
  2. Seats are not as comfortable as the Lexus seats, but pretty close. In my mind, it is hard to beat Lexus in terms of seat comfort though. Don't get me wrong as the Model X seats are still extremely good even for long drives, but just not good enough to beat the Lexus.
All these MINOR negatives could be easily forgotten the second you turn the autopilot ON once you are on the freeway and watch away with a big smile as you drive into the future. What an awesome experience it is to just sit back and marvel at the future and get the full view of rainbows during the Florida rain through the gigantic windshield.

I agree with you - as awesome as our Model X is, it can't touch Lexus in the creature comforts arena. (Even our Prius gives text message audio readouts. I'm hoping that feature will one night arrive as an Tesla OTA software upgrade.)
We Have owned 3 different Lexus cars. An RX300, SC430 convertible and an LS460L. I think the LS was the most comfortable car we will ever own in life! The seat comfort and Mark Levinson sound system are awesome!
That said - our Model S ran circles around all 3! We were so awed by the pick up & performance that we traded up the Model X. Far more comfortable than the S but not as cushy as the Lexus. Still.... We are in love with our X!

We were scheduled for delivery yesterday 9/27 and DS called to say there was a crack in the windshield and something wrong with FWD that needed replacement part. They were unsure of the timing of when SC would receive replacement and have it ready. It's a bit frustrating they discovered this day of delivery and not prior. But I guess what can you do? Anyone else experience this?

Yikes! So sorry to hear that! Headed to pick up mine in Decatur in an hour, fingers crossed!

Sounds like your FWD might have experienced the same issue mine and a few others got on this batch but they caught it early. Mine went back to get fixed the same day on delivery, well more like 5 min after delivery. Like you said it is what it is what can you do. Actually since you haven't taken delivery you might be able to ask them to waive the destination/doc fee. I don't know if I'd rather they cancel the appointment or repeat the same experience. Either way doesn't make me feel any better.

Did you pay in full and did they tell you this after payment was made? Or are you holding until delivery date is established?

They told me this after payment was made.

I have said it a few times. "Never pay for a car you cannot touch/see/inspect first."

Tesla does present the "pay now" screen online once it is at the service center and I suspect many do pay in full, especially near end of quarter, before taking possession. (well, Texas pays before shipping from Fremont). Khamm's car may not count as a delivery in Q3 but money will reside in Customer Deposits and A.R. until it is eventually delivered next week (or after). I've heard of folks making their first car loan payment before delivery occurs. In June, I bought a car at a regular dealership that I paid for two days after taking possession. They just held my check until I had the cash in the checking account.

At the service center taking delivery...LOL. Interestingly, my DS isn't even here for my delivery. Not sure what the heck is going on with that. X looks great save a minor scratch on the black plastic under front bumper. There are a few other minor things. Right now they have taken my car to the service area to install the accessory hitch and hopefully look at some clicking noises I heard when opening and closing both FWDs. Actually looking forward to driving in awful intown traffic in my new car!

Looks like Decatur. Got my X from there yesterday. They were great. Also had to install tow package for me and few scratches.

Had we known delivery would've been canceled we wouldn't have paid in full. We paid the morning of 9/27. I'm becoming increasingly more frustrated with my DS. He was out the scheduled delivery date with an email saying he would return today. His email today says he's out returning tomorrow. I called his cell phone and the mailbox is full. I call his direct line to try to leave a message and its a nonworking number. It's a mess and not what I expect from them.

My delivery specialist was unresponsive for about a month after I placed the order. Then one day it changed to a different name, and the second DS called to say my car would be ready within the next 10 days. After confirming the payment options, a tentative delivery date was scheduled, and then the second DS stopped responding. I called the local Tesla store and was told that the delivery would be delayed. MyTesla page now shows a different DS (the first one who never responded to my emails).

This is very disappointing, and a poor way to start my Tesla experience.

Yeah, something very odd is going on with the whole DS system. I spoke with mine on the phone twice (after several emails with no reply) and then he was a no show today after we traded voicemails yesterday. I had three other random people help with various aspects of my delivery today. And two others calling yesterday to finalize things that I suspect my DS may have dropped the ball on. I know for a fact that Alliant didn't get what it needed for today'S delivery until 7 pm last night (after business hours).

Are DS'es supposed to show up for your delivery? My delivery experience specialist was someone else totally different. I was not told it's because my DS is unavailable. He's actually in the office that day, I just didn't meet him.

Picked up my Model X last night. The San Diego service center was working overtime.

Drove it around today and it is awesome. Great acceleration (I'm happy with the 60D, it seems fast enough) Still getting used to the screen and features. I'm sure in a few days I'll be a pro. My wife seems to have learned the temperature controls fast. Used the app to turn on the air con twice while we were in stores and the car had heated up to 100 degrees, it was nice and cool when we returned.

The fit and finish looks perfect (only one minor flaw, a weather stripping under one of the FWDs is separating and they will fix that later).

Waiting to get 8.0 before I try AP.
