Model X Timeline - From Prototype to Production

Elon stayed before that the secrets of the X would be revealed at the first delivery. So software, gorilla glass, updated autopilot HW, etc.

The exterior wood paneling won't be revealed until the car is actually driving on the road for a few days, those ill-fitting camo panels suddenly detach to show Exterior Glossy Obeche in all its glory.

OK Submitted by temporary config last night (see below). This is a pretty expensive purchase for us specially on top of our 2012 Model S. Still agonizing over a few things, would hope and appreciate for comments from folks here:

1- Chose accessory hitch vs trailer hitch or no hitch. My rationale is that accessory is free and maybe I would use for bikes at some point. I can't see myself towing anything. That said I worry some people may want the trailer hitch and could be a resale value problem (doubt it can be retrofitted).

2- Picked 20 silver wheels. I like the look of the 22s much more, but it is a lot (4.5K) more and likely will be a constant source of curb rash concern and damage.

3- Got the high amp charger because we will be a full Tesla household and I don't want to have any charging regrets ever. My S85 doesn't have it and was never an issue but then again right now we still have an ICE.

4- Couldn't work myself to cough 4.5K for the Premium upgrades. I like the self presenting doors and super clean air, but don't think I can justify the premium to myself

Don't hold your breath!

Not impressed until Sigs are delivered. It is more than 1/2 way through Dec!

I used to work in finance and it is my understanding from several sources that Auto Industry analysts were expecting 7,000 cars to be delivered by year end...the reality is spectacularly less than that. I am a signature holder below 500 and not only can I not get a straight answer on when I can expect to get my car, but every time I call the "delivery specialist" who is assigned to my case, all I get is the run around. After numerous calls over several weeks in the 4th quarter, I was told that it is Tesla's "goal" to deliver all the signature cars before year end. When I pointed out that Tesla has yet to actually meet a goal they initially set as a target, my delivery specialist had nothing to say.

When I mentioned that I wanted the car before I left for the Christmas holiday, I was told that that would not be possible and that Tesla would put production of my car on hold because I was going to be out of town. My delivery specialist explained she did not want my Model X "to be sitting outside in the elements the whole time I was gone" which implies that it would certainly be produced before year end. I said that they should not put anything on hold and I would take my chances that the car would be struck by lightening or hail before I could pick it up at the beginning of January. To that end, I requested to pick up my car on January 4th, only to be told that she could not actually guarantee that it would be ready... I pointed out the duplicity of her statement: if she was so concerned that it would be sitting in the elements through late December, how could the car NOT be ready for pick-up in early January? She said she would have to check with the production team, but had no clear and definitive answer.

Many times I have tried to ask where they are in the production of Signature vehicles only to be told that they "didn't actually know." No one is able or willing to provide an honest, clear answer. A little transparency would go a long way to make me feel like Tesla actually gives a darn about the fact that I handed over my $40,000 in good faith and have been waiting patiently for (quite literally) YEARS! Well, my faith is beginning to wear a bit thin.

After all this time, I think the chances of my model X getting hit by lightening are far greater than it actually being ready to be delivered to me by Jan. 4th...

I know I'm at least a year out but the way you folks that put down 40k have been dealt with is really shabby and you as a group certainly deserve to get straightforward information. It might be a little different if it weren't for the big deal rollout event in Sept. IMO

More Delays for Sig Reservation Holders on the Way.....

Well, I'll be shocked it Tesla can deliver my car in the next two weeks. Just received word from the 'rep' that it would not be delivered in December at all, and would only be sometime in "January" of 2016.

Model X P90D Sig Reservation #4xx,

Help us see any patterns here. Delivery location? Configuration (color, seat number, L mode, winter etc.) It does seem that VIN is not the determining factor.

Model X P90D Sig Reservation #4xx,

Could you put your info into ModelXTracker | Welcome to help everyone track the progress? Knowing the config diffs will also help with predicting deliveries now and in the future...
