So delivery summary - overall not too bad.. I took delivery of a new performance black on black...

I did a pretty thorough inspection and logged about 16 issues.. I’m pretty sure they can be corrected.. mainly

- scratches on the paint
- some minor alignment with the frunk, rear door and rear tail light
- scrapes on the bumper

There was this weird discolouration on the hood.. this is the one I’m most concerned about - pics below

So not perfect - but I’m pretty sure the issues can be fixed.
The drive home was awesome - that thing is so fast :)

Congrats, bet it's amazing. Yeah I'd be concerned on that discolouration but I'm sure it's fixable - maybe just something with the topcoat. Scratches are definitely that - someone has been careless polishing.

Was the process totally remote with your DA or was someone onsite? How did you submit your issues?

I'll be interested to hear how they solve the trim alignment issue. Hopefully my pickup is in the next few weeks and I'd want to know they can fix stuff like that.

My delivery specialist was based in Toronto.. When I arrived at the service center I just called him and he unlocked the car.
Then I checked the car out and sent him emails (one for each issue) with the last 5 vin digits in the subject and then a description and two photos (one closeup and one to show location). When that was done I called him again and he took me through a few setup things and that was it. Ownership and keys were in the car - so I just drove off.

The next part is to book a service appt - where they address the issues..

Good info, thanks. Did you have a downpayment? I was planning to hand over a bankers draft but if it's all remote...?

Going through the delivery process at Oakville right now - must say that some of the previous issues that I’ve read about seem to be fixed which is nice. That charge port and door are beautifully flush.

Got a small dent in the Driver side A-pillar that will get fixed and was probably missed as it was protective wrapped. Definitely some adhesive from the protective wrapping as they added tons more versus delivering the 3s the first time.

Some panel gap issues but honestly they’ve gotten much better now. Some trim work also but the interior is looking in great shape. Other small paint issues like nicks (probably during transport also) but nothing missing external nor inside joints. You have the DA for an hour and he’s been great at documenting, taking pics, and talking through the process. He’s taken the car back to the retailer to see if those paint issues are just dirt. Otherwise, great looking car and the boss (wife) is definitely happy (for now).

Glad to hear. That was one of my reasons for waiting until now to order one. We have a model 3 SR+ already and plan on adding the Y to our growing fleet of Tesla’s.

How long was your wait from ordering to delivery? For our M3 it was about 6 weeks.

You played it smart. I stood in line at 3am after the Model 3 unveiling to reserve it and that took over a year of waiting when it was delivered on Jun 4, 2018.

Same story with the Y - put down my deposit on Mar 24, 2019. So a bit longer than the 3 but I assume it was the white interior that held it up. They’re getting into their groove again - anecdotally, the difference between the Model S/X to the Model 3 was 10x the volume and right now they’re seeing 10x that with the Model Y. If even somewhat true, that is pretty impressive.

Ha, I was about to put down for the Y on autonomy day, but then chose to get the M3 SR+. Waited an excruciating 6 weeks for it, lol. I can't imagine waiting over a year.

Glad you enjoy your Y. I'm sure we'll start seeing more in the GTA in the coming months.

Cheers!

Anyone else buying Maxpider all weather Mats? After deliver the 7piece set is just over $600.. seems a bit steep (and seems delivery at this point won’t be until October)

Just bought the 7 piece set yesterday from Teslarati.I have two messy kids and want to have them before the winter.

I bought the ones for my Model 3 from the Tesla Shop. They were roughly the same price and excellent quality. I didn't want to wait until Tesla gets their Model Y mats because they sold out same day for the M3.

It was a hard pill to swallow, but for a ~$90k CAD car after FSD, taxes, red interior, white seats, I just figured why not protect my investment from my kids.

Every other Model Y mats look like they come from Canadian Tire.
