Model Y Production By Late Feb?

They originally said the fall, then moved it up to the summer. They have enough trouble meeting targets, so let’s leave this one where it is, and let them beat it!
Forget the date... check out the efficiency. Could potentially have 310+ mile range. Wild. I may have to rethink my “keep Model 3 for a decade” strategy ...
I hope it’s being sandbagged and some additional range is available. Extra 10% would be great!

my uneducated guess is that Model Y is likely a bit longer, so longer wheelbase therefore it can fit more cells to create a slightly bigger battery. Now Model 3 long ranger is aliens 75kWh of usable battery so maybe new model Y is closer to 81-83 (10% more)
my guess Spring is when we will see Model Y rolling of assembly line. I mean, we still don’t have many specs for it

All of the spy shots that have the "sticker" show a 74.5 KWh battery back. So I doubt it is a larger / different pack than the model 3.

good point, I forgot that detail. Then to achieve similar range maybe motors are weaker compared to model 3 or Tesla did its technical magic and able to squeeze efficiency even more so.

Your gap between first production and full production is probably optimistic.
I wouldn't be surprised to see small quantities this quarter, but I would be surprised to anything resembling full production before Q3.

The drivetrain will be identical to Model 3...75% parts overlap. Otherwise price will rise, margins drop, and longer deliveries.
Honestly this could be something, but I still feel summer is the best bet at early deliveries.

Margins are expected to be slightly better with the Y (than the 3). And now that Tesla is registering actual Model Y VINs, deliveries are going to be sooner than later! (Employee deliveries likely within weeks)

EPA range differences would be created by weight and aerodynamics, assuming the drive and brake systems are the same.
Model Y will have worse aerodynamics than the 3, but Tesla have apparently been working to reduce the difference, and that will move its EPA rating closer to the 3. I doubt if the weight differences have any significant difference on EPA rating.
