I don't see how the side laminated glass can make a significant difference. The majority of cabin noise seems to come from the frame and road surface with small amounts of wind noise coming from the roof.

Interesting point，However tesla did this improvement in their 2021 model

Tesla is all about cheap. Gotta figure, the majority of time it will be people in the front seat only.

Yeah it’s a start.

I guess at least it’s better than what everyone has now. I wonder if it will help the car maintain its temperature a bit longer so it can save a bit of energy on heating and cooling.

Just putting them in the front is typical. My e-tron only has the front. IIRC they are harder to break in the event of an emergency.

Not likely. The current rear side windows are 4 mm thick, not the 5 mm needed for laminated glass. Making the rears laminated would likely require a redesign of the trim. Certainly not impossible, but I don’t expect it.

I’d like to know the answer to this. OP makes it sound easy, two wires into a connector and boom retrofit dimming mirrors. No mention of whether the car identifies them and controls them in the usual way etc.

Regards the laminated glass - you’d just order it from the SC in the usual way, and then fit it? Or pay Tesla to fit it. As I understand it the glass is the only thing changed between the two cars, according to the parts catalog, so should fit without issue.

Good to know about the glass. I’ll wait to see how much quieter it is before ordering because I feel it’ll be pretty expensive and then I’ll have to get them re-tinted with ceramic again as well.

The sites selling them specifically call out that they don't work on laminated glass. (Or at least the reputable ones do.)
