Maybe I should try to get a Tesla loaner, too! I'm in a very similar situation. Loan was already funded, Tesla was already paid and the first payment is due the first week of August. The leased Lincoln MKZ it is replacing was returned three weeks ago. Ordered car on 6/8/17 and was told 3-5 weeks to get to KC. It was already in Chicago where they were starting the reconditioning process. First told I should have it by the end of June, then that got pushed back a week to 7/7, while my kids were in town and would be able to see it. Called that week and was told it was in the body shop for repairs and it would be the 3rd or 4th week of July. Made an appt for a test drive so my boys (20 and 21) would be able to experience the Tesla. While at the test drive, I met my delivery specialist and showed them pics of my installed HPWC and garage. Told them I was going to California and missed the factory tour by two days. After the test drive, I got an email saying I got into a tour this past Friday. Took the tour, which was cool, but I work at the Ford factory and it's very similar, only cleaner.
I have repeatedly asked for the condition of the car, pics, and parts being replaced. Finally got a list of repairs last week...a few minor things, plus a brand new drive unit. Still have yet to see any pics of the car. Was told it should be back from the body shop mid last week and prepped for shipment to KC. No word since then.
Certainly worth asking. I took a factory in early June after reserving my S as I was in the bay area for a conference anyway. The scale and number of challenges Tesla has overcome to make these cars a reality was mind-blowing. Best of luck with your delivery.
Ive been in a Model X loaner since day 1 after purchase (now 11 days). Oh yea, its a P100DL AP2 with white interior
Well played. Though I'm somewhat glad I have a little more sane car for a loaner, or my new car might feel like a downgrade when I traded for in the loaner. Or did you buy a P100D anyway?
I haven't had a lot of time with the 85D loaner yet, but my thoughts so far...
Good:
- Rear facing seats are great. our 3 and 5 year old fit perfectly and should for quite a while. We went out to eat w/ wife, 2 kids, and my sister, and could've had 2 more adults in there comfortably.
- I mainly listen to audiobooks in the car, and bluetooth integration with Audible android app works well. Only minor nitpick is I have to initiate playback from the car - whereas other bluetooth devices I can initiate from the phone.
- Voice commands are intuitive and have worked well so far.
- This car's autopilot seems pretty good. I won't go into too much detail as plenty of other people have tested more thoroughly than I have, and my car won't have it anyway. It's certainly helpful, but the only thing I'll miss is adaptive cruise. For where / when I drive, I wouldn't be able to fully utilize the other features much.
- Plugging into a supercharger and getting free energy is awesome.
- The acceleration, combined with near zero noise and no transmission shifting is incredible. I've had a number of 400-600 hp cars, a few that were technically faster than this 85D, but the instant quickness/responsiveness, silence, and smoothness is so much better for a street car.
Bad:
- The browser is really slow. Slow webpage loads (this car has LTE but it was still slow), very slow and choppy scrolling and pinch-zooming. Pretty terrible as far as modern web standards support goes. Hopefully that improves eventually, but whatever.. we all have phones and tablets for that stuff anyway.
- Mildly disappointed there are no texting voice commands / playback.
- Can't test slacker as I don't have an account and when I hit "Use Tesla Account" (or whatever it says), it says login failed, so I'm guessing the loaner's free access expired.
