My First Tesla-2021 Model S Plaid MSM-Pics

The refresh LR and Plaid are the exact same size (length, width, height etc.) The Plaid is slightly heavier due to the third motor, cf spoiler, and plaid badge ha.
The refresh LR and Plaid are slightly wider than the prior Model S.
Ahhh I see as a few people told me the Plaid has a wider body than the S but that was the old S....

Is it that only the 21 LR Model S and the Plaid have the same body? Or all Model S 2021's?

I got confused as google showed the LR as 77 inches and the Plaid as 79?

Yes only the 2021.5 refresh LR and plaid have the (79) same body. All the prior Model S are the 77 inches (including the early 2021s.) The 2021.5 started June 2021. There were some prior Model S sold early in 2021 that were still model year 2021.

@Drew-MS

So the spacers are at my buddys shop but I wont be able to go until tomorrow or Wednesday. Here are some pics and they look great and should work on the Plaid:

Notice how there is no taper? Just 1/100th cut so the snout will insert easily

They look awesome, thanks for sharing this information.

Are the spacers at the shop so your buddy could cut the studs? I assume they didn't come that way but idk. Cheers

I just had them sent there since he will do the install--- 6 or 1/2 dozen. As for cutting, we shall see once the car is on the rack.

This is probably going to sound ridiculous, but I don't know the physics of it.

Is there any concern with the torque of the Plaid that it might break the spacers?

Not a ridiculous question at all. If the spacers are hubcentric then the torque will be applied to axle like it would be if the car was without the spacers. A non hubcentric spacer will create load on the studs and then the torque will be an issue.

Looks stellar, I wanted this color though wife wanted white lol How do you like it lowered, does it drive much different/stiffer?
Its relatively the same based on same road comparisons. I do have good well paved roads in general so the minor drop didnt create any comfort issues. And I still can raise it up (although the highest setting is not OEM highest anymore) but I have not found the need in any circumstances thus far.

I am fairly impressed with the Tesla air ride!!

Appreciate this, I've owned and lowered multiple air ride cars and enjoyed the looks big time.

Actually studs see no shear load at all. The clamping force of the studs forces the faces in contact together with so much friction, that carries the load. Still want hub centric though as you don’t want an eccentric wheel.

I fully agree with the aesthetic that you are after. I was disappointed with the offset of the arachnids. To be flush, you need ~15mm spacer but you can’t because of the studs lengths. I fear that 20mm will leave you too much poke. Although the additional camber helps. Never mind about the poke, your pics look great!

I ended taking delivery with 19’s, selling them and getting custom offset front and rear 21x10.5 with 295/30-21 all around. N2itive links 1” drop.

So here are pics with the spacers on and the stud details. My set up is 20mm square and I feel its perfect for me with no rubbing on short heavy angles or higher speed rips.

Details (Ive already posted the pics of the spacers)

This is the rear stud setup (notice the round tips) these are the tips that hit the back of the wheel with a 20mm spacer and I could have gone 25mm but noooooooooo it would kick the wheels out too much:

AM-JKLX6NB_9HrmRHsaYoZVM8_l0UxijuzsCk0d-1iGMOTxIwrp0QjM05yxuFcJuzkT3Yeo0D-E4fPhO_7bi04kBgM9W0K2E06KzWDMYSfq1CWNCPFLv1WxMW21L6xODmvWh5qbTmzeGuvbmsit4Mfo2JGnX=w567-h1007-no

So we shaved the conical section down and this is what we had with no hubcentric issues. I will never rely on the studs to hold the wheel, it has to be the axle. Before we cut the curves the wheel had just about 4mm of gap from mount to hub--- no way I would allow that nor would my tech. After the cut the wheel sits flush and ... tons of OEM thread left :)

AM-JKLWWzUmObfuE2JhZ382aaV7UuEIxQokDDwKncWKYofa6TfR46F9hhMiximv2ePMxRU49JFKSw0n3SwfI6gy8YxMgkN4wXnjOwFYiHa-LadtUUiugcQUYHRpNpT943QvvZAXU7M3VCZFmb3AqFuYLwcqt=w567-h1007-no

Now the front studs of the Plaid are not curved at all and did not hit the back of the wheel , so the 20mm spacers fit no issue and no cut
