Maybe its based on the MAC address and the lower MAC wins !

I don't have the issue with profiles (since I haven't coupled them up to phone or key, and so select them manually) but I do notice my wife's phone tends to get recognised and paired first. Maybe that handbag vs. pocket theory has merit... In any case, I can sometimes get in the car and back out of the garage, and the car has seen my wife's phone which is still in the bedroom upstairs. Could it be remembering and repeating the last paired device maybe?

My wife’s Android phone is also much preferred by our Model 3, compared with my iPhone 6.
My phone almost always fails to even unlock the car until I toggle off-and-on Bluetooth. Very annoying.

Android will normally win that battle as it's normally better with background multi-tasking due to the O/S design unless the Android is in battery save mode which they normally aren't.

Personally I subscribe to the right side / left side theory. Doesn't seem to be any pattern in android /ios etc, just that it's usually wrong!

There certainly are people with LHD cars who also claim that it's often wrong. So maybe it's just unreliable for everyone, and only seems like it's systematically wrong to those of us with a suspicious mindset.
