My Model S arrives on the 27th. Would be thrilled if it doesn't have the alcatara dashboard. My 2014 Model S did not and I much preferred the rubber-ish material.

Ya I like the non alcantara. I put leather cleaner on it and it gives it a deep black shiny premium look.

I liked it, but I'm also not upset to see it go. The interior difference that bothers me most, if I was to buy another new one, is the elimination of the grey interior. I hope that comes back.

We love our gray upholstery.

I ordered sunroof with black interior, light headliner on my pearl white S 100D arriving in 2 weeks.
Pretty sweet upgrade from my white 98 Camry.

Impressive upgrade. . .I came out of a '99 Lexus GS 400. 210K miles and still going. First car payment since '04. . . Lol.

The kids are now driving the Lexus and they prefer it over the 2 Honda CRVs we have in rotation (5 kids driving).

Congrats on the new wheels. Will exceed your expectations.

Funny, I totally disagree. I didn't order the PUP because I absolutely didn't want the alcantara dash- although I really miss the power lift gate, which is now standard . I guess to each his own. Snowflake.

When PUP included alcantara dash, it was possible to special order and ask for the alcantara part of the PUP to be "deleted", resulting in a regular dash. My car has the PUP without alcantara ... a special snowflake, for sure! (I just didn't care for the look of the patchy fuzzy dashboard, nor the upkeep for dusting)

Well being 47 last Monday, my 3 available channels growing up meant I focused on Julie McCoy and stayed up late to hear "The Plane, The Plane..."

Anyway - still not a fan of Alcantara and will know in a week if I have it in my new 100D or not.

The two most common compliments I have received from people sitting in my car over the last 2.5 years has been my black alcantara headliner and the alcantara dash insert. The apparent sentiment in this thread that it's undesirable is the opposite of the sales trend in new Porsche/Mercedes/Audi/MB, cars with much better interiors than Tesla, where it's an increasingly popular choice. I would choose it for every non-high wear area of my car that currently has leather.

Alcantara removed - well I never liked it anyways (despite being a premium feature on other auto makers)

Model X 7 seater change - well the powered middle seats were not practical anyways (despite the powered mono post seats were classy / high tech)

Ventilated seats removed - well never really used it anyways (despite being another premium feature offered by other auto makers)

You get the idea. That's what a $100k car gets you. Just get a model 3 with no option. That's what they need.

Nappa leather is not the same as alcantara. On the German page it is menttioned twice, that you get Nappa leather on arm rests and lower dashboard panels. Here, the discussion is about alcantara on upper dash panel.

Do people realize that Alcantara is polyester, not leather.

Doubt it is a cost cutting issue for Tesla. More likely a supplier issue.

The Alcantara dash is poorly integrated into the overall design. Looks good, but a little out of place.

Alcantara is a fancy name, intended to portray something much more expensive than it is.

Like "Nappa leather"?
