Painters tape for front end?

I have a long road trip coming LA to SF. Was wondering if anyone tried covering up the front bumper with painters tape. Does it interfere with EAP?

I did not get a car bra. Or a clear bra. With all the bugs and rocks going up th 5 freeways. Is it ok to use painters tape and not interfere with EAP sensors?

Painter's tape for road trip

It theoretically shouldn't interfere with the radar.

Yeah, you see lots of high end cars at track days doing it. Probably will give you some protection (while looking as JeffK describes LOL). Not sure how it would affect the sensors.

It's rather sticky though, and all those air molecules sticking to it will likely cost you some range!

LoL have you not seen it on the road before? It’s fine. It’s only to go in between. I will remove it when I reach destination.

I used to use painters tape for track days, but now use removable clear shelf paper. Same tackiness as painter's tape and comes off clean. I had it on for 5 days without issues removing. Costs less than $10 at Target.

Back to the original question this shouldn’t affect EAP ..just don’t tape over parking sensors either ..pls post pics though

The delivery center had put painters tape on my car before delivery I saw it about 10 days before. It did not come off well.

The cost isn’t up my alley. I don’t do road trips normally. So I don’t see the need to spend $600+

You could spray on Plasti-dip. Provides great protection with a thick rubber coating and is easy to remove. Look a lot better than putting tape, etc. on the front. (Some people do their whole car with it.)

Here is a pic of my Z4 coupe at the track with the clear shelf liner wrap on it. I put it on in a hurry before driving from San Diego to Vegas for the track event and wasn't too concerned with bubbles. I added extra protection to the headlights using blue tape.

The Z4 on the door was a nice touch. Gives a "bespoke artisanal luxury" air to it.
