All I meant was that the highest VIN in your list was quite a bit lower than the VIN would be for any car built after the change made by Tesla.
Ok, that makes sense and supports #1 theory above (my preferred theory).

I just checked all my vehicle codes on TeslaFi, and I do have the PX01 code, which makes sense.
Does he have production data by specific VIN?
Because looking at all the data in EV-CPO, I've learned since yesterday you can't go by VIN range. For example, here are 45 P85Ds in VIN order that were all CPOs and a Y or N if they had the PX01 option code for the Performance Plus suspension. As you can see, it's randomly distributed at about a 50/50 ratio. And this is just VINs that start with P63xxx.

Oh, that's a great way to check the codes on the car I want to buy! Great idea!
Unless you know something I don't, I don't think you'd be able to check CPO cars that way, as you need access to the car, via the API.
I’m sorry but the information on the forum maybe incorrect.* I did some research and all P85D were built with the performance suspension.** I compared both vins you provided*** and they both have the performance suspension. Often we change our terminology or the way we word the window sticker or even the design studio. This may lead to the confusion.
Interesting. I suspected my P85D 69198 had the + suspension but it didn't show the PX01 code based on the rougher/tighter ride on 19s than my P85 Sig has on 21s.Tesla stopped coding P85Ds with the PX01 code around P68980. After that, there was no PX01 coding.

Performance Plus adds world class handling to the incredible acceleration of Model S Performance, while also improving range. After hundreds of iterations affecting every detail of the suspension, our vehicle dynamics team was able to achieve the rare outcome of improving both performance and efficiency. In addition to upgraded dampers, bushings, stabilizer bars and tires (Michelin Pilot Sport PS2), the rear tires are 20 mm wider and staggered for improved acceleration on low grip surfaces. Range improves 6 to 12 miles over regular 21” wheels.
Also during my research, I found the original text that Tesla used to market the P85+. Kinda funny now that the improvement in range isn't actually true, I think Tesla backed off on those claims.
My Service guy says the following:
* He means the P85D VINS without PX01 option code
** I'm assuming he means "Pre-April P85Ds"
*** VINs provided are ahurst's and the car I'm looking at.
Not sure if this is made clear elsewhere in this thread, but Tesla doesn't and didn't build by VIN, sequentially. VINs are assigned before being built, but then the actual sequence of build is based upon some magical Tesla logic, mostly independent of VIN.There could be weird outliers, I guess. I mean Tesla was demoing the P85D in early October 2014 at the D launch event. So theoretically those demo cars, or other cars they built back then could have lower VINs, but I would think the VIN you listed up thread that started with 59 is more indicative of where the bulk of the P85Ds started.
Whoa, does this mean I actually have the "+" suspension and a staggered wheel setup?
Mine hasn't been delivered yet.
Tesla stopped coding P85Ds with the PX01 code around P68980. After that, there was no PX01 coding.
My conclusion so far is for Pre-May 2014 P85Ds, the PX01 option code is not a reliable indicator.
Can't. Already traded in.
Yes, 2015, I fixed my post. Thanks.Pre-May 2014 or 2015?.
BTW our Insane P85D+ has the "01-A" front shock didn't come with staggered wheels. I believe these were discontinued somewhere before our P85D+ 2/24/2015 vehicle production date.
