Elon said, when introducing summon, in 3 years it will be possible for someone to summon a car in NY from LA. Unless a battery has 3000 mile capacity or someone is available to plug it in along the way, The Tesla will have to have access to plug-less power.

Plugless power have already achieved success with the Volt and Leaf @ 3.3KW so I think this is a good next step for them, certainly not a pipe dream.
