Hi. I removed the second row center seat on my 2016 (monopost) two months ago. Easy job actually. No visible errors afterwards, but one error in the service menu. My car has a weird sleep pattern, maybe because of this? Looks like some Updates must be forced through by SC.

Weird sleep patterns. Because of seat removal? I do not have data from before seat removal. Turned of everything that’s on the list over things that can wake the car

Bump - curious if anyone recently opted to take a 7 → 4 seater (or 4½ seater?) by removing all or part of the second row of seats.

Anyone changed 7-seater captain chair setup to the newer 7-seater folding setup?

I think Tesla might be persuaded to do the config chance in this case, because amount of seats doesn't change.

I'm trying to figure this out as well with a 2016 MX 6S... how to keep the third row of seats operable?

Pre-2023 Model X this is super difficult because of the sliding cover plate, can’t access the boots without removing it and very difficult to see how to remove it.

My aim is to remove for camping and replace for day to day.
However, replacing requires recalibration with the Tesla Toolkit software or an opportunity to hack.

Ultimately I want to replace the 2016 2nd row with the 2017 fold down version.
Probably have to wait until there are more salvage vehicles available.

Did you ever get this conversion done? I am also considering updating to folding seats but am hesitant without knowing the challenges involved or if it is indeed doable without big compromises. Thanks!

BTW - RIch rebuilds did a gen1 MX flood repair that had a good video on 2nd row removal.
