TMC should have taken my advice and just called Roadster Soon (an homage to Elon, how he always says everything is coming soon, and it gets delayed and delayed, just like the Roadster). Not the Roadster 2022 thread has to get renames again, breaking all the links (again, since it was Roadster 2020 in 2018).

The links don't break, the forum software is smarter than that since thread titles change all the time. The forum code simply ignores the thread title in the name and jumps directly to the thread id# after the period (in this case, 223802). The thread title in the URL is for ease-of-use for human readability and SEO.

So all these links still point back to this thread:

https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/roadster-2025.223802/

In fact, you can put anything you want in the URL and it still works:

I see the CMS developers Elon-proofed it. ;)

If I only have money to give away.

Free long term loans. Is that going to be 6, 7, 8, 9, maybe 10 years?

That $50k could buy 5 20xx roadsters today, if investing in Tesla stock instead of free loan program.
Actually, if you simply invested the $50K in TSLA stock back when Roadster was announced (Nov 2017), instead of putting down the deposit, you would have had almost $600K today. You could have bought yourself a Model S Plaid to drive for now, set aside $450K to buy a Roadster without reservation (when it comes out, sell the few year old Plaid for $50K, someone who reserved a $250K Roadster will be willing to part with it for $500K).

We have one we'd sell for list price, and only 10% down. 😇

The longer it takes to come out, the more I'll be able to afford it
Are you saying this because
  1. you are saving money for one
  2. because you're hoping inflation will come but Roadster price will stay fixed
  3. you are hoping the TSLA shares you have today will some day cover a Roadster price (so a race between Roadster price vs. TSLA price)
  4. You're planning to win the lottery, except winning is taking longer than originally anticipated (like FSD)

Anyone else notice the link to reserve the Roadster is now broken?

I sold 20% of my TSLA shares recently and have been toying with putting the deposit in just to insure against what I see is almost a guaranteed price increase before it actually comes out. Sadly, the link is currently broken. Pricing is still the same however.

Well. Elon said they won't be doing any new models in 2022. Which means maybe Cybertruck in 2023 so no way we'll see Roadster any earlier than 2024. And given Tesla, that will be a stretch.

Who thinks they can go a full 10 years from announcement to delivery? Looks to me like they've got a great shot at it.

I've decided that unless we get some news or confirmation about Roadster production starting in next 18-24 months, I'm going to ask for my deposit back. It just doesn't seem like it's a priority for them; maybe they've decided the original asking price as too low, and Plaid offers enough performance as it is. Just seems to be an orphan product at this point.

That's why I bought a plaid in the meantime. Might be 3 years before the Roadster starts shipping.

I’m a bit shocked at the total lack of news. Not even an email. I agree that it’s starting to look bleak. The focus is on growing the business, and building roadsters would take away from that. I feel like sales would need to slow down in order for them to take some initiative here. But that’s not likely for at least a couple of years.

And the longer they don’t ship it, then more incorrectly priced it seems to get. Might as well cancel the product offering. But that would be bad PR. So just do nothing. Still get the leadership tag buy having it for “sale”. Some number of people (like me) have they’re $ sitting at telsa but so what. To them the deposits are a drop in the bucket. And if people want to wait let them.

They should send an email out with something.
