Softer frunk closing

Have seen a lot posts about switching out the spring for the M3 frunk to make it easier to close. Seems that the latch mechanism is different on the Y.

Does anyone have any info on a mod like this with the Y?

Not that I've seen. They're using a torsion spring in the MY vs the easy to replace spring in the M3

Service center should be able to sort that out for you
MY frunk is very easy to close when adjusted correctly

I can't believe how difficult it was to close on Sandy's 2021 M3. I don't think his hood is going to last very long.

I can't believe how difficult it was to close on Sandy's 2021 M3. I don't think his hood is going to last very long.

I watched that video also and was surprised how much of a struggle he was having closing the frunk. I have a 2021 also (a SR+) and it's way easier to close (did it on my first try just inspecting the car). I think it's pretty obvious his needs some adjustment or is defective.

I did the spring swap on my 2018 Model 3 and anticipated doing the same on the Model Y. I never got to the point of learning the latch was different because my Y frunk closes easily. My guess is that it can be adjusted.
