Supercharger - Mesa, AZ

I had an appointment in Mesa, AZ this morning. Afterwards, I visited the new supercharger site. The site is now fenced and one very friendly worker was on site. This is the first supercharger site he has worked on and he asked me if I was from Tesla. I told him no, I was just a driver and I had retired from the local utility with 45 years in high voltage construction. He said he had just relocated here from Hawaii “to get some mainland money” and was doing the “digging for the transformer”. There are 3 supercharging cabinets on site and the switchgear cabinets arrived while I was there.
This site is in construction now.

Well, this should be enough to consider it “under construction“!

I have heard that the are 2 superchargers behind the Service Center at 7444 E Hampton Ave, Mesa, AZ 85209. I have not been there to see them. I heard they are not really public chargers and only sometimes accessible and other times behind a locked gate.
This is accurate in my experience. It has been a while since I have driven behind the service/delivery center on Hampton north of the Costco, but in the few times I was checking it out shortly after opening there was always cars in the stalls blocking public charging. Next time I'm in the area I'll give it a fresh look. Given that the red pin doesn't show up on the nav, I'd say it's safe to say it isn't intended for everyday public use and just for juicing up cars w a low SOC after service or prior to delivery.

I went by and charged there. They have 4 V3 chargers, but I'm guessing it's more for the service center to top off cars before delivery or after service. I was able to add 10KWH, but I was there towards closing so once they started moving cars around I headed on out.

The discussion is this thread got a little off track with discussion about the Mesa Service Center superchargers, but this thread IS about the permitted superchargers at this location (unrelated to the service center), and now that construction has started here and Tesla equipment is on site, I think this site should be marked with a construction cone!

Really need this supercharger soon… Today at San Tan Mall, 2 Teslas were both trying to charge at the “antique” EVGO 50kW charger; that’s how desperate Tesla owners are for a supercharger in the East Valley! We still really need a supercharger in south Gilbert or Queen Creek too.

Interesting.... with super off-peak rates at $0.032/kwh nov-apr I'd think that everyone would be charging at home if possible...
