Hah, I just beat the crew in this morning. The first guy arrived as I was leaving, so it looks like the early RubberToe gets the worm, or the detailed excavation pictures in this case. The big picture is that they have refined the areas where they are removing previous asphalt/concrete. New excavation includes the second row of Superchargers, just South of the underground vault. Note in the vault picture that they have pulled two red guide strings to denote the area where more work will be done or for the curbs? I'll have to check the original renderings to make sure. The center divider upon entry/exit is now gone too.

Bit of a slow day capping off the work week here it seems. A bit more excavation on the North side by Glenarm for the city owned EVSE going in there. There is some additional red string in place to guide future work. Not much change in the trenches holding the large plastic conduit. More asphalt was cleared at the East end of the second island (furthest South). Site plan added for picture reference.

We look to have lost a tree in the process. And the City is pretty particular about that, believe me. Not sure what kind it is. Maybe Elon can donate 1,000 trees for reforesting in Germany like he did for the ones taken down for the Berlin Gigafactory. :)

P.S. I'm thinking that maybe the red string is the outline of the pad that will be supporting the 3 areas shown as: PWP Transformer, Main Switchgear PWP+Tesla, Tesla Equipment. Where the underground vault we see is right under the above ground transformer area.

Got a bit caught up in work this morning, so I didn't make it to the site before the workers arrived. The following picture from about 6:15am shows a total of 10 workers on site focusing on the large conduit installation in the trenches. I should be back there early tomorrow at the usual time. All indications are that good progress is still being made.

Just WOW !

Huge shipment of electrical cabinets, pedestals and Supercharger cabinets has arrived. The red guide strings were for an excavation boundary, all of which has now been dug out. The far South row of Superchargers has now had conduit fully installed and popping up out of the trench. One picture shows the South bank of conduit approaching the large newly excavated area.

The City L3 area along the East side next to the freeway was fenced off today. Not sure whether they were digging there or not. Lots of dirt piles, but those could be from the main excavation area. Some crew arrived right before I did, so not as many pictures as I would have liked to take. I may try doing evening shoots to avoid the crowd. More conduit progress with the run into the main area getting filled in further.

Well, some pretty disturbing news from the site today. There is some newly installed fencing around the entire perimeter that they apparently think is going to put an abrupt end to our endless orgy of Supercharger site construction photos!

This raises several important questions:
1. Who do they think they are denying us our Constitutional right (17th Amendment) to daily photograph Supercharger site construction?
2. Is there really any danger in letting random Tesla Fanbois with no knowledge of electrical gobbledygook wander around high voltage installations?
3. Do they really think that I will not resort to hourly flights of my new Phantom Super Bravo 8k drone over the site just to spite them?
4. Do they not know that I am on a first name basis with all the bail bondsmen within a 100 mile radius of Pasadena?
5. Do they not understand what a devastating blow this is to the mental health of the entire Tesla community?

I could go on, but I'm going to make a concerted effort to calm down and try to recover from this over the next several years...

The photos of this site are most charming. This looks like an ideal spot to bring a date, pack a little picnic lunch, stroll around in the green grass, and breathe in the fresh air. Maybe the new fence is just there to block out the unsightly construction area as to not disrupt the peace and harmony of the beautiful surroundings?
Well, I don't think there will be much green grass nearby, unless the cannabis dispensary on Raymond gets approved. But if you are a fan of freeway traffic, natural gas power plants, a big light rail transit buff (me, me, me!) or all of the above this will be heaven on Earth.

P.S. I'll be out of town on vacation starting 7-11 and returning 7-17. I tried to convince Mrs. Toe that these daily pictures were much more important than the family reunion trip we planned 6 months ago, but she wasn't having any of it. Maybe someone else can pick up the slack while I'm on vacation?

Funny posting, but the fences might have been installed mostly to protect from vandalism and liability issues in case some nocturn visitor had bad intentions or get injured like any working area :)

As of yesterday evening...

Main power input trench is now covered temporarily until the lot repaving is done. The shot of the L2 charging area on the East side by the freeway doesn't look to be large enough for the 11 spaces in the original drawing. Maybe it will be expended further later? Hard to tell how much progress is being made at the main island since I can't get closer than the sidewalk.
