I went by the mall today to look for any construction. This is my first time looking for a SC under construction for but there’s this large TESLA cabinet on the bottom floor of the new parking structure. Not sure how new it is? There’s also a full complement of S3XY cars down there.

EDIT: I have no idea why the photos uploaded upside down...?

Nice find, but that's a battery system and isn't related to the supercharger. I'm guessing the mall has a solar PV system; the battery is for energy storage from that. The cabinet with the TESLA on it is the inverter and the ones next to it house the actual batteries, specifically they're Tesla Powerpacks.

Amazing! South Bay certainly has been shown the love from Tesla lately. When I got my first Tesla in 2016, we had the 8 stall SC in Redondo Beach and the Hawthorne Tesla Design center SC. Now we have Redondo (8, 150 KW), Manhattan Beach (12 72 KW), Hermosa Beach (20, 250KW), Hawthorne Tesla Design Center (10 stalls?), another Hawthorne one (12 72 KW), and another one under construction (rumored to replace the one at Hawthorne Tesla Design Center). Orange County is still lacking (as is Long Beach). But great to see the progress.

Think I found the spot. It’s the old parking structure connected to the new one with the current L2 chargers. Bottom floor and away from a lot of the mall, so hopefully it keeps ice cars away from parking, along with mall security.

Hi all, a new Supercharger is under construction at Del Amo Mall in Torrance California. @jiserrab located an electrical service request about Tesla equipment onsite along Fashion Way, with digging already underway. I then looked through the city’s database and found a permit for 20 x 250kW EV charging stations at the mall.

Enjoy!

This is great. Yes. Thank you for this update and the screen shots. I posted about this about six months ago in a different threat when the permits were pulled. I also emailed with someone at the building dept. and they confirmed that superchargers are being installed. I did not know it was 20 and V3. That's terrific news and definitely needed. When you look at the supercharger map you can see that there are no superchargers in Torrance, South Redondo or Palos Verdes, which is nuts considering how many Tesla's there are in this area. Hopefully, post Covid when people return to the malls these will get a lot of use.
