Might be worth poking around Winnemucca to see if it's getting an upgrade, which if so begs the question of connecting 95 to Burns and Boise. McDermitt looks like the only bit of civilization on that route, but who knows if they have the electrical capacity to support a supercharger.

Wells, NV

Along Primary Interstates: I-80
Along US Numbered Highways (<=5mi): US-93
Along Auxiliary Interstates: None

I-80

From: Elko, NV - 51.3 miles
To: West Wendover, NV - 58.3 miles
Diversion: 0.5 miles
From: Winnemucca, NV - 175.8 miles
To: Tooele, UT - 157.3 miles

US-93

From: Las Vegas, NV - 421.6 miles
To: Twin Falls, ID - 117.9 miles
Diversion: 0.1 miles
From: Henderson, NV - 443.1 miles
To: Missoula, MT - 504.5 miles

Another good splitter!

Splits the 109.1 mile gap from Elko, NV to West Wendover, NV, which will be helpful because it's in the middle of a string of 3 longer gaps that will now be more easily be able to traversed with charges that keep it closer to the sweet spots:
Winnemucca, NV to Elko, NV 125 miles
Elko, NV to West Wendover, NV 109.1 miles
West Wendover, NV to Tooele, UT 99.2 miles

Also, it's on US-93, enabling easier travel up to Idaho, plus it's also a possible step towards Tesla making the US-93/NV-318 connection from Las Vegas, NV through Ely, NV. (Although it looks like Tesla would have to build a solar farm to power any Supercharger between I-15 and Ely, NV).

Agreed. A supercharger in McDermitt would make a better spaced/adapter-free/much faster split than the Greenlots CHAdeMO now in Orovada, especially for those of us with lower range in cold weather.

Another Supercharger that’s not on Tesla’s coming soon map that is well under construction. Gotta wonder how many more there are?
This has been my biggest question. Teslas Q3 report stated 2188 SuC locations worldwide at the time of the reporting. But Supercharge.info had just over 2000 listed open at that point. Where are these missing locations? I heard a couple weeks back 26 locations went online in China in 1day. But no locations were added to SuC.info map. ‍♂️

If you check the Winnemucca thread, I discovered temporary urban Superchargers were installed a few weeks back.

Mostly they are in China. Unfortunately, SC.info doesn't have any editors who live in China and keep track of local stations, so its coverage there is lacking.

Good find! Presumably this motivated by I-80 densification, but the optimistic side of me thinks this might increase the odds of seeing something in Ely in the near future.

Assuming i-80 densification, this also suggests the possibility that Tesla might build a new supercharger soon in Battle Mountain, to split the current 125-mile gap between Winnemucca and Elko.

Be nice to have something in Ely. It is at the junction of US 6, 50, and 93. When I drove through there last year, I charged at the Ely KOA. Since then, a CCS/CHAdeMO site has been installed. But a Supercharger would be even better.

Almost embarrassing how excited I am about this one :)

It's at the old 4-way casino where I once played $25 max double deck blackjack haha. Back in the days when every little shittown in Nevada had a casino with actual card games. Now it's just an even more depressing slot house. I believe there is a brothel within walking distance of this supercharger, but it's a v3 so you'll have to be quick!

Oh, and I would definitely appreciate it if someone would scout hard in Ely. I-80 density is nice, but as someone who frequently travels from Seattle to Vegas, I'm really hoping this might be a sign that they are considering opening up the Ely route (finally). I'm growing very weary of staying on the interstate routes for that drive.

I tend to agree with inatm though in that I'm not really sure how Tesla will solve the Ely to Vegas stretch. Crystal Springs would be the appropriate splitter, but I don't recall much being there, maybe just a gas station or even just a crossroads and a name on a map. Panaca does have 2 Chargepoint Chademo plugs, so maybe there is enough electrical there. This would be on the slower route between Ely and Vegas but beggars can't be choosers! If they were to put one in Panaca, I would expect them to try to install a supercharger at the Love's truck stop north of Las Vegas where US93 meets I-15. Reason being that Panaca to Vegas is too big of a gap and also being on the interstate, it would provide more I-15 density and shorten the gap between Vegas and St. George. That truck stop is basically the only thing at that intersection, but being a large truck stop on an interstate, I assume they would have the proper electrical infrastructure. So that one's a longshot at this point but if anyone is traveling I-15 north of Vegas any time soon, maybe stop at that Love's and poke your head around the parking lot just in case :)

Nice. We'll use that on our frequent trips from Southern OR to Salt Lake City.

Now if they'd just split the distance between Klamath Falls and Winnemucca. At 307 miles, I'm unwilling to try it even at 100%. Lakeview, OR is at about a 1/3 point. I'd rather have one more like halfway, but Lakeview is on US 395, so would also be a good spot for north-south traffic on that route.

There's also a CCS/CHAdeMO in Alamo (~13 miles south of the road junction that is Crystal Springs). It's a bit of a stretch from Ely to Alamo (148 miles), but Alamo might still be the best option available to split Ely to Vegas.
