Tesla 19” sport wheels on Model 3 Performance with PUP?

Considering newer M3Ps only have 20' uberturbines as default - would it help the range if someone were to install 18' wheels on this car? Realistic to expect LR AWD range then?

It's all about the tires - wheels make almost no difference. A sticky summer tire is always going to consume more energy than a low rolling resistance all season.

Hey, stumbled on your comment and had to ask -- I just got a 2021 M3P, I wanna swap out the 20" stock wheels for my 19" sport (Rohana RFX2) 19x8.5 +35 with 235/40/19. Do you know if these specs fit without issue?

I have 245/40r19 on my factory 19x8. you can put 250s on an 19x8.5

I was able to achieve the dual motor EPA rated efficiency with 18” wheels and PS4S “sticky summer tires” on my Model 3 Performance. With the 20” Uberturbines my efficiency was 10% worse with equivalent tires.

I actually don’t think the difference in rolling resistance is that great for cold and fully inflated tires. Hot and under inflated tires would be an entirely different story.

Aftermarket rotor nicely obviates the need however for the stepped lip that has to be machined into the wheel that allows clearance for the 'anomaly' on performance models with their ultrathin hat rotor.

Did you leave the values the same for the wheel/tire settings in the vehicle? I see it is within 99% of the diameter and circumference, it may not need it. Just curious.

I have the Performance model so I had to switch the settings from the 20” UberHeavy wheels to the 18” non Aero wheels. Seems to work great after I switched that value.
