Tesla App Zoomed in When You First Open

Starts off zoomed in and quickly zooms out as tesla intended. I pad, it takes several minutes to fully zoom out.
The fact that they actually did this design on purpose is more concerning than if it was a software issue. If it was an issue, you know they will eventually fix it. Since they did this intentionally, means we are stuck with this awful UI gimmick. Seriously, why would they think this is a good idea, even if it is fast? People just want to quickly check their data. They don't want to wait for some silly graphics entertainment.

its fast enough on my iPhone 13 that its barely noticeable as a graphic element unless you are staring at the phone, so there is obviously something going on that they hopefully fix for those who are not having that experience. I would say its like 1/2 a second, maybe less.

I say that to say that I am sure thats the way its supposed to work. Previously, it just showed old information when you opened it, then updated later. That used to take a good 5-10 seconds for me.

I guess if it is as fast as updating to the current info, then it won't be that bad. Considering I have the iPhone 14 pro with more than enough storage and processing power, it should not take 2 minutes for the display to fully appear (which is how long it does take.)

Yeah there must be something going on there. Are you running a vpn or anything on your phone? Mine is an iphone 13 (from my job actually) but I dont need to run our vpn on it to do most things I want to do for work on it. Your 14 is obviously more powerful than my 13, so its not a phone power thing.

No VPN. And it does this regardless if I'm on WiFi or 5G
Silly question, but I am going to ask it anyway (because I have to ask it at in my day job, as well)... Have you done all the regular troubleshooting stuff like rebooting your phone (actually turning it off and on again), and after that if it still has the issue, uninstalling the Tesla app, rebooting your phone, then re installing the tesla app and re logging back in?

I've done most of that. Haven't uninstalled and reinstalled the app though. All other apps work fine. I may do that in the future after the next update if the issue isn't resolved.

I emailed support several days ago and just got this reply:

Thank you for reaching out. We are indeed aware of this issue with the Tesla App where the Zoom feature is sticking. It is a bug that our Engineering Team is aware of. They are working on an update and we have been told it will be applied early into the New Year (this coming week).
If you have additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our Powerwall Support at 1-877-961-7652 option #2.

I would encourage others to email support as well. Squeaky bug gets eaten first. Something like that.

Email address for PowerWall Support: [email protected] .

Phone calls won't hurt either.

Thanks are owed to all the folks who reported the issue here. When I first experienced this issue, it was when I searched TMC and found other's reports of the same thing that I realized it was a bug, not a problem with my phone or whatever. If it crawls like a bug and squeaks like a bug, then it is time to report the bug to the developer.

Getting action taken requires the squeaking to be amplified till it gets priority from the developer, especially if they have only the latest, greatest and fastest iPhone (model 240X) on which to test their new and "improved" code. ;-)

FYI that 4.28.2 has just posted to the iOS App Store and I just updated and can confirm that the home animation is now fixed and works as expected.
Yep. It is now fixed. It appears that they just removed the animation feature because the app just opens right up with the house in full display, even after I clear the app out of the cache and reopen it.

Glad it is apparently fixed, I will not know until I get on faster WiFi. This reminds me of the engineers at work doing PowerPoint charts who think, “What this presentation needs is really cool animation so that everyone in the room can watch my charts slowly populate.“

I’m glad that’s sorted!

On another note, is there any way to get the app to open on the Powerwall screen? Mine always opens on the car screen which I rarely need it to. As a new Powerwall owner I’m still looking at it a thousand times a day 😆 so would be useful to open on that screen and not keep waking the car up.
