Tesla youtube "ads" only reach superfans and antifans.

What Tesla needs to do is reach consumers in neither group that can afford their cars, software, and various other products. To convince these folks to consider buying Tesla products. Not to try to convince the loony toons of TSLAQ.

There are legions of folks that can afford $39k plus vehicles and $10k software that don't spend hours every week on youtube. It doesn't matter if they are older and less hip. Their money counts just the same to the Master of Coin.

Tesla might currently be selling every car they can produce without discount. They are certainly not selling every copy of FSD they can produce. Per Elon only 1-2% of Chinese Tesla owners buy FSD. Tesla was not selling every S&X they could produce for a very long time.

It is not the job of Tesla customers to do their marketing for them. It not the job of customers to do customer service/communications for them.

I certainly won't work for a multi-billionaire/ MNC for free.

To add briefly to @jbcarioca's comment...

1) The legions of folks who don't spend hours weekly on YouTube only need to spend 2 minutes watching a 2-minute YouTube ad sent to them by someone they know. And legions do spend hours weekly on Facebook and Twitter.

2) FSD will sell better when it is fully functional (Level 5). S&X will sell better when Plaid production ramps up. The expectation of Plaid probably osborned S&X sales for a while.

3) It may not be the customer's job to do Tesla's marketing, but they are doing it. They have done it from the beginning, and deliveries are now growing at 100% per year.

4) Maybe you won't work for free, but many creative people enjoy sharing their work on YouTube. And "spec" ads like the one I posted (made "on speculation" rather than for hire) can generate paid work for the creators by showcasing their talent. And actually you do work for free by posting much useful info in this thread. Thank you and please keep it up. :)

Whatever delay there is in a significant rise in the stock price, I think it can be attributed purely to the hedgies and MMs delaying so they can position themselves accordingly. It explains why previous really good quarters had a delay before those good results were reflected in the stock price.

I don't know what's going to happen today, but if there's good news and the stock doesn't seem to react much, there would be a good chance of a delayed response once the big players get themselves positioned.

Remember, the hedgies and MMs are the dealers in this casino. You've just got to know how to read the dealer.

what will be funny is when Tesla does eventually start doing some form of conventional advertising and everyone here instantly does a hypocritical 180 and falls over themselves to praise the ad and the strategy, whatever it turns out to be.

Fixed that for you:

no, you broke it for me. you're a fool if you think Elon's going to go off-script, make some impassioned plea for climate change, or ad lib a single thing. have you people literally ever seen an episode of SNL? they read goofy jokes off cue cards. once every couple of decades, a musical guest does something controversial for attention.

In my experience people who have bought Tesla cars seem to be in either of 2 categories:
1 - People who understand either the tech or are pro environment
2 - People who want a status symbol car and don't care particularly about tech or the environment

So I think the market we should address as Tesla fans is (2) - they have the means and would just as well buy a Porsche Cayenne, or high end BMW. Besides the snob appeal they are also safety conscious for the most part.
This reminds me to post that excellent volunteer made YouTube ad on my (rarely used but necessary) FB account.

so let me get this right...
People that buy teslas are one of two types..either they understand it or they don't? Great Observation.. Oh wait there is another perspective...either they got it as a status symbol (I'm Rich or a techie, or a tree hugger)...or they did.
No one got the car because of its worth.

There are people who are status blind. And expected FSD to work by now. With FSD the car is worth it to people who cannot drive as safely as they used to. The Y is easy to get into for old folks. The 3 is not. Y sales to people for worth should go through the roof in golf cart communities.

Rumors have it that Giga Berlin may add an e-bike as one of its first products:

Giga Berlin news & NEW PRODUCT might be coming soon !!! (see tweet in orginal German)

c.f. Elon Musk says a Tesla Electric Bicycle could be coming from a 2018 podcast
I think the Dutch will be relieved that Germans could have their own bicycles now. I know it's an old war story, but many Dutch still feel bitter about having their bicycles stollen. I think they take out their frustrations in football from what I've seen. Maybe Germany can make some extra bikes and settle the score.

When do you think that will be? Maybe after Tesla "eventually" starts selling through conventional dealers, and restricting improvements to conventional model years, and using conventional ICE engines.

To me, some seem to have a different meaning of what constitutes "word of mouth" dissemination of a brand.

The way I see it, word of mouth happens when others seeing what you have ask about it, or, become interested from a "keeping up with the Joneses" angle, or, the topic comes up in normal conversation, rather than consciously going out of one's way campaigning for a brand. I think of the process more as people doing very little out of the ordinary.

These days, the same people who take pictures of their food and post it to social media are also doing this with their other purchases (unboxing and the like) and this sort of falls into the category as well. The "look at me" factor plays a part for some people. This is more like people sharing their code to gain a kickback from the manufacturer for each purchase they influence. Sure, this helps, but I consider working at it as being above and beyond traditional "word of mouth" propagation.

The basic premise of "word of mouth" is more natural than it is contrived, and happens organically whenever there is something notable to talk about.
