Just to note, Biden reiterated how the new EV tax credit would work. Tesla would qualify for 10k of the possible 12k. Tesla could fight that stipulation but.......this would still benefit Tesla. Right now Tesla faces a $7,500 disadvantage.........now they would only face a $2,500 disadvantage.

And to the consumer, a $2,500 difference between a Tesla and any non Tesla is pretty non material. Tesla's superior....well everything, compared to the competition won't make consumers think twice about that $2,500 difference.

Edit: MP3Mike pointed out something that is actually pretty interesting. The Ford Mach-E, the GM built EV that's being produced in Mexico, and anyone else with plans of making their EV's in China or Mexico will actually be put in a really tough situation because they'll be at a disadvantage to Tesla now.

The Mach E since it's not built in America and not by a American Union thus only qualifies for $7,500.

.............Biden's still a fraud.
But he can still hold Mary Barra's hand :) Maybe it's because she's the 'visionary' of EV's.

Doubtful. Tesla built an EV plant in Texas and couldn't even be bothered to demand that Texas let Tesla sell Teslas in Texas as a condition for siting the plant there.
Then we still get this nonsense. This is all about rust belt people and politicians scared about what the disruption will cause. To get around that Tesla has to play the game. It is a maturity thing really. I remember Microsoft and other big tech companies going through this. Microsoft used to do no lobbying. Then the effort to split Microsoft up came about and Microsoft and others said whoa we need to play the game. We arent immune.

The Mach-E would only get $7,500 under that right? Which would put the Model Y at an advantage... (Or would a Mexican union count for that condition?)

Best comment i saw on the interview with Buttigieg about Tesla's omission was "would've been super awkward to invite a wolf to a gathering of sheep"
A more accurate response; "It would have been super enlightening to have invited a company with the depth of vision of the Hubble Space Telescope to a gathering of dinosaurs."

But then, the group gathered today would have had about as much of a chance comprehending what Tesla could offer them as... well, as a group of dinosaurs.

Why a disadvantage? Tesla employees could have a $1 a year union. It just won't be UAW. And it will negotiate on an all volunteer basis when the NEXT meeting will occur (around a year later).

This item is quoted from the Economist's daily Espresso briefing for today. Ostensibly it isn't about Tesla — but we can all read between the lines can't we?
