Texas Hold Up!

WHOA. Nice. Say a prayer for the rest of us.

It’s been a while since I bought my S so I assume a call is coming soon to arrange delivery and such so I will mention the “Texas thing” and see what insight they offer.

I gotta feel the rest will be coming soon as many of you configured before me and I got such a late VIN maybe the next batch is coming.

I’m not leaving you guys!

That's bunch of baloney and someone is just making something up. If they don't have your VIN, how do they know your car is still in production? Makes no sense. Besides, there is no build to order going on, it's just batch built and they match up cars with people.

I think that's their standard reply...sure sounds better to say "in production" to anxious buyer than say "I don't know" or "they haven't started on your car yet"

I think "we haven't started on yours yet" would have gone a long way to help anxiety levels. Still frustrating but less frustrating that "somehow your car has been in production for the last 4 weeks".

Hey guys, I got an interesting update!

My Model 3 Specialist just returned my call and let me know that they just got word that they will begin Texas deliveries eminently. Sounds like they had quite a bit left to work out paperwork/legal wise. He said as soon as my car is completed I will get a VIN and things will get scheduled. (I am not sure if this is unique for Texas, but it sounds like VINs are being held for Texas deliveries until the car is completed).

He said this news is still developing internally, but that my VIN is looking to arrive within the next 7 days. Car completion to delivery timeline is still developing for Texas, but shouldn't take too long.

My best guess is that we have been conflicting information from reps because Texas is being done differently than other states. My specialist says it is because they don't have a sales license in Texas, so all of the paperwork has to be done in California which complicates things quite a bit.

Interesting info and thanks for sharing. I’ll share what details I get when delivery and a delivery specialist is assigned to see what other details I can get from them.
