So much crash data
Some highlights:
Most fatal rollover crashes are single vehicle crashes.
In 2000, 2 percent of passenger cars involved in crashes experienced rollovers and 15 percent of passenger cars involved in fatal crashes rolled over. Among light trucks, the proportions were 4 percent and 26 percent respectively.

Glad to hear you OK. That was a very scary accident. I take bouquet canyon road all the time, but it is a very dangerous road. Seen a dead motorcyclist there, drove up ~2 min after accident. According to EMT I talked to, most deaths is SoCal occur on bouquet canyon road. The section your accident happened, long sweeper, can be driven fast. The dash cam footage is unquestionable evidence.

Well, my 3 order was still showing 4 week delivery when I confirmed it, so I am hoping to have my 3 in late January early Feb. I had previously clicked the "delay my order" button, but it turns out Tesla is glad for you to change your mind at any time, and the original order option was still on My Tesla.

I imagine someone here has shared this thread with Tesla already, but if not, you may want to send them the info for their customer stories page. The fact that you have such dramatic dashcam footage--and that you walked away from that essentially unharmed--is quite the sales tool.

And if anyone on the Model 3 list deserves to have their order matched to one of those shiny 3s sitting in Fremont and delivered post-haste, IMO you're her.

I am using a BlackVue 650S. They are the standard it seems for Teslas. I actually like the video quality out of a Street Guardian that I used to own, but it doesn't offer dual cameras or a parking cam option.

Do you (or anyone else with this setup) mind sharing what the total cost to purchase and have a dual-cam BlackVue professionally installed ran you? I know we've had threads on these elsewhere, but many/most focus on group buys. Also curious how it looks from inside the vehicle. I'm sure we're about to have a rash of Model 3 buyers looking for this info.

I'm glad you are OK, that appeared to be inches from a fatality crash.

2 lane roads that exist in much of Californian mountains, forests, and deserts are extremely dangerous when it come to the severity of the crashes. I always keep my headlights on during the day when driving them, and look very far ahead, yet have had to dodge oncoming cars many times.

The fact you had a dash camera was an excellent decision. Many collisions on these roads have the offending party lie about what occurred, that they were on correct side of the road, and the victim was actually the offender.

Making lemonade out of lemons. Got hit today by a dude with no license and no insurance. Video here;

You can see that he appeared to decide to hit me. Not sure what the deal was, just very, very glad we were both OK. I went to urgent care after the car was towed for some X-rays, and am chilling at home with ice packs now. My first experience with airbags.

Here are the remains of my baby. Very glad I was in such a safe car. I was going about 55 I think when he hit me. Who knows how fast he was going. I had JUST put on my gray Arachnid wheels a month or so ago. Ah well.

Anyway: I chose a Blue Model 3 and got the 19" rims. Lemonade day. :).
Wow. Glad you are okay. That looks like it was almost a head-on collision. That's pretty scary. Sorry this happened to you but glad you're alright.

Az_ so glad you are "OK" .. that s quite a Wreckla! maybe they will push you up the line... You could go in front of me but I don't have a reservation {even the lll is too wide for my driveway!] So glad it happened on flats id it had to happen at all. Happier holidays ahead!

In general I agree with what you said (and I got a dashcam for the X, unlike an past car,) but given that all the debris is around the right side of the right lane, it seems like that kind of claim would be pretty hard to push in this case.

Thank you . How did you install it?
Also shouldn't he be arrested?
I followed some of the guides here. I didn’t have the proverbial microphone connector, so ran it down the A pillar to the OBD port for power. Just be careful to route properly around the airbags when doing the work.

thank good for dashcam! recover well and hoping that Model 3 arrives soon! Will you insurance put you up with a rental?
Hopefully. They did not authorize one last night when I started the claim, but I am hoping they will today when the actual case rep calls me. We have an extra car (our pickup truck) so we can manage even if they don't authorize the rental. I have never been involved in a total insurance claim, so not sure how that plays out.

Im so glad you're ok Az_Real. I used to live in Valencia and frequented Bouquet Canyon. That's a road that requires more attention. Great job swerving! What part of the canyon did this happen?

About two miles from the Elizabeth Lake Road turnoff. I was coming from Palmdale and went down the first long straight, then took the first corner, which is where this happened. A fellow who drives the road often stopped and took pictures for his "collection" of bad crashes on that road. An...interesting...fellow. One of the residents was out walking her dog and said she had also seen lots of bad crashes on that road.

Getting the 3 is a great idea and awesome Tesla are letting you change your invitation preference. Will you get red?

I am changing it up and going Blue. I have a habit of never getting the same car color twice. Dunno why.

Correct. However we don't know where the cars and debris field ended up, but it is probably indicative of the impact site.

I was speaking about crashes in general.

Glad you are okay. Even if you don't think you are hurt too bad, find a "certified" motor vehicle collision specialist physician to properly diagnose, treat or refer so you don't end up with long term problems later. Best wishes in your recover and replacing your car!

A doctor that know how to properly diagnose, treat and document so you if you get an attorney against this guy, thing are actually documented to help you in the fight. Just trying to help :) I don't even know any in California, you would have to do some homework to find one. I speak from experience...
Wish I would have been in my Tesla, I probably would not have needed surgery. Thank goodness I have an awesome medical and legal team to help out.

No doubt he was texting or otherwise distracted. He was not aiming for you. Curious as to why he has no license? Undocumented immigrant or lost his license for DUI?

Also your dash cam isn't showing the vehicle speed - I always wondered if I should disable that in addition to disabling the internal mic in case the speed is used against me ....
