Tracking Multi-red production and sequencing

When I talked to a Tesla rep yesterday, I was told that the production WILL start end of March and that the 85 kwh battery packs will go first, followed by 60 etc. He said I should expect my delivery by end April.

Was this your config specialist or delivery specialist? You got more information than I was able to get last week, and I was at the factory.

News from Geneva, where Elon Musk today said European production will not start until June (was March), with first deliveries slipping only one month to July (was June). This probably means the European Signatures (Red) have been moved behind back in line, behind Multicoat Red.

In addition, Elon stated the US deliveries would be slowed (from July onward) in order to make Euro deliveries a priority. If Multi Red were to slip, it would be a big slip indeed. I think one has to assume that the planning organization at the factory has had this factored in for some time.

I added my information to the spreadsheet. I also wanted to see how many other multicoat reds would be in my area (I'll be looking for you Issaquah-Renton-Bothell drivers!). Here is a count by state (and 1 country) using the info from the spreadsheet. The data pretty much aligns with what I would expect, given the comments that I have read about Model S orders in general. I kind of expected TX to be higher, but we don't have a complete list, of course... Or maybe they just don't like red cars in Texas! :)

I'm sure this has been covered ad nauseum throughout the forum, but is build priority (within a similarly configured group of cars, e.g. 60Kwh) based on reservation # or flnalization date?

I've been told if your car includes options that are not yet in production that sequence number will be used when those options enter production. Once in production it goes by finalized date.

I'll be very annoyed if multi-red is delayed because of the EU. Change the paint for a few months and then switch back. We've been waiting awhile!!

I bet some EU folks are annoyed at the North Americans that are bumping them to summer. Some of them have waited awhile too! Tesla was very transparent about the April-May window and we just need to be patient for a little longer.

yes some here have waited for years (not me...)
I think they plan to finalize the 'Time to Configure' over the next week or so for the Sigs.
Maybe from that they decide to prepaint bodies? or produce the sig reds in one go, finalize later and hold them there to be shipped with the rest.

I understand the impatience, I'm excited and anxious to get my car, too. But as StevePro said, Tesla has been clear that it's April/May. Long time to go before they are in danger of missing that target and I don't think they owe us more than that at this point.

Of course you're correct. The rest of us are just venting :)
