Interest in this thread seems to have diminished as deliveries have been made. I am happy to finally be as negligent in my updates as everyone else. I picked up my red P85+ on the fifth. P8234. I had an original delivery date of April 22, but when unloading the car Tesla hit a pole and damaged the car – proving that parking sensors at least occasionally would be of value. In any case the delay gave me the chance to upgrade to the + suspension and although dealing with Tesla customer service was initially frustrating due to poor communication inside the company, the delivery specialist really pulled through for me. All in all a great experience and I have absolutely no complaints and we are thrilled with the car. The only problem now is that my commute distance is too short.

Congrats! Were you able to work out your 'other' issue?

Congrats Conger!

Andrewket how is your RED? You have had it for several weeks...do you like it?

I was fortunate to visit Pacific Grove last week and here is one of many picture taken.

Thought I'd drop in and say hello again. Took my first road trip (within range) to Boston on business, 170 miles each way. The car was a pleasure in every sense. I range charged and hit the road at 4:30am, quickly ramping up to 75 mph on cruise control as I found energy usage to be a non-issue. Ended up with 80 miles rated after the trip (there was some stop and go for the last 20 miles or so). Seats were surprisingly comfortable for the 3 hours in the car; I didn't fidget or readjust at all. Audiobook streamed nicely from my iPhone, passing the time quickly.

Recharged at a free public charger in the pay lot near the office, no issues or problems getting my full range back for the return trip the next day. Was more nervous about range with moderate rains the whole way back but, with a 10mph tailwind, ended up at home with 87 mile rated.

Congratulations to everyone who has received their car already and, for those still waiting, know that the car is very drivable on long trips.

hey guys - sorry for not posting recently. I've been too busy driving! I love my Red P85+. I've driven ~1700 miles in 4 weeks, including a road trip this past weekend to Philadelphia. I stopped at the Delaware SC in both directions, adding about 100 mi range on the way up and 80 on the way down. I think on the way back I could have made it without the SC, but since it was right there I figured what the heck. A ~20 minute stop was no big deal.

I'm still running 4.4. I'd really like the ability to set a charge level other than 93%, but it sounds like 4.5 has some annoying bugs (fan noise, etc.) My only gripes are:

1. The 3rd row really needs air vents. Even with tint it gets too warm back there. I bought a 12V fan that I use to push air from the second row to the third. It works fine if I only have one of my kids in the 3rd row. There really isn't a good place for it if both are back there.

2. I have a 4-hour charging window on the TOU (time of use) plan I have with my electric utility. I have an HPWC and twin chargers. At 60A my charge rate is usually sufficient to fully charge in the 4-hour window. Occasionally though I go to 5+. A hardware fix for the HPWCs to get them back to 80A is coming, but ownership and the service centers are providing conflicting information.

3. Minor gripe: additional 12V and USB outlets would be nice. As would additional lighting in the frunk and trunk (many ppl have performed this mod themselves.)

4 weeks later, but here it is: our Model S 60 on its maiden voyage after factory pick-up, at Waddell Beach in Santa Cruz county. Round trip from home with standard charge (178 rated miles) through the Santa Cruz mountains with a wine sampling stop in Davenport left us with 34 miles back home, close but not range-anxiety provoking ...
