No worries xhawk101. It's your choice as to post your VIN or not, but after you take delivery, anyone can just look in your window and get your VIN number. (It's against the law to hide it in many states) The rumors about VIN scams are overrated and posted by people wearing tin hats and speculating about black helicopters overhead. I'm not saying your one of these people - maybe you just saw it on the internet - and as we all know, everything on the internet is true!

There are some folks taking delivery next week with VINs in the 8000 range. There must be a logical explanation for why your VIN is so low, but I can't think of it.

I guess no one (red) got delivery button this month. I suspect a lot of us with get delivery button next week. May be they did not want distractions for quarter end. Hopefully our cars are getting manufactured in April when there is not as much of a mad rush (quarter end)

Just spoke to Tesla delivery rep. My car will be completed the week of April 22. Delivery button is expected next week and VIN number in about 2 weeks. My reservation number is 14,277

Apparently 4/22 is the popular answer to many of us waiting (and not just for red). My rep told me that the factory will 'reduce operations' next week to allow people to take a break after the quarter end madness of the past few weeks. Then, it will pick up late next week and the following week. Thus the 4/22 target for a lot of cars rolling of the line (testing included) ready for delivery.

Just got an e-mail from Tesla that my MS should be ready by the end of April. I have RN 321891 60 red, pano, aas, tan, tech and superchg. They said I should get an email in the next 2 weeks to set up delivery, sounds like std speak. But thought you reds would like the info. Still would like to see pictures of the red rolling off the assembly line.

Well it's official. When I added the 3rd row and refinalized I lost my place in line which had been end of line the first week of April. Tesla is apologetic that they told me (in writing) that it would not have an effect on my delivery date, and they were able to move me back up a week, but I still won't have my car until mid May. The rest of April has already been scheduled and there isn't much else they can do.

As a result my financing will expire and I will lose the great rate. I'm disappointed and annoyed, but the config specialist team lead I've been talking to has been very responsive and apologetic, and from what I can tell tried really hard to correct the error. I just wish they could fix it and keep their promise.

It's going to be torture to see all the reds! Be gentle with me.

As I live nearby, if it helps ease the pain, I'll drive down and put you behind the wheel of mine for a nice drive. I trust mine will be delivered by the end of April. My father-in-law lives in Alexandria and he's eager to see the car, so I have to come to Northern VA anyway.

I'll be curious to see if the red P85s get delivered with the Alcantara headliners, as I read that the P85s in other colors are now being delivered with the cloth headliner. If the red P85s have the cloth, it will be like a penalty for choosing to wait for red production to occur.

I just called in and asked about the headliner. They just told me that my red p85 will have fabric headliner. I just got penalized for waiting to get my red model S. I will cancel my Model x reservation and most likely not buy any other Tesla. I don't think this is right when we put our reservations long before than many other individuals that already got their cars with Alcantara headliner. I am very disappointed.

For those of you who aren't following the Alcantara headliner imbroglio you can find it here: http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/15243-Upset-at-Major-Headliner-Issue-Anyone-notice-this

For everyone else please let's try and keep this thread focused on the delivery of our red cars.

@miamind - my only advice to you before you cancel your future plans to own other Teslas is to remember that knowledge is not universal within TMC. Many, many have given out information only to have us all discover that it was mis-informed.

While i'm not happy about this change, in my case it's hardly a reason for not buying the Model S or another Tesla. Frankly I can live without the Alcantara. It's a nice but artificial suede, kind of like a high quality vinyl imitation of leather. If we were talking real suede in might be a different story. But the real stuff is a PIA to maintain. IMHO it's really not worth my getting excessively riled up about.

I just received my VIN# 7773 by email, and was informed my Model S has not yet entered final assembly so a specific delivery date can not be set, but is expected in the second or third week of APRIL!!!!! Looks like RED is really here.

DLM270 a big Congratulations to you! You've even updated the spreadsheet. Way to go. You give us all hope.

Did you do something special to entice an email from them containing your VIN?
