My car is supposed to be shipped next week, maybe they will put us together or if you are lucky there are plenty of others to fill the truck earlier. Good luck

I know it won't make any of you 'redders' feel any better, but as one of the old-timers with cars already, I am maximally jealous. We couldn't wait for red, and now I'm paying for it right in the heart muscle.

So as not to make you feel to bad, we were originally looking at the silver or white. We actually drove a silver on our test drive in Menlo Park. We have had several red cars, but not for 30 years, so decided to do Red. Might be a problem with the CHP in California, but that is the price you pay.

This wait is gettting worse, the closer we get to the delivery. Went golfing to try to take my mind off the S, but it didn't really work.
I will see if I can get close to some finished REDS tomorrow on, or after the tour, for pictures in daylight. If so, I will definately post them. Otherwise, I will be flooding the Forum with pics on Saturday.

My car entered production yesterday and my DS emailed me my VIN: 8950. I'm hoping the car will be delivered on or before April 24, as I go on some extended business travel after that, including, ironically, a trip to Palo Alto, which is a short drive from the factory.
Last time I was in SF on business I was able to go on a tour via the generosity of a fellow forum member who allowed me to tag along on his delivery. If you have the time I highly recommend it.
If you don't get delivery before maybe they can set you up with a tour and a "demo/loaner " test drive ( meaning using your exact car until delivery )
I was interested in picking up at the factory and visit friends in the area for a week and then have them ship it but I figured it wouldn't go over very well and probably have to pay CA sales tax somehow plus I doubt Tesla would want anything to do with the liability transporting it if it already sold.
Would have been neat though. Kind of like the European delivery experience Mercedes Audi and BMW where they ship it afterwards.

Actually I've already contacted the appropriate staff about arranging a factory tour. I can't do it this time owing to scheduling conflicts, but as I go to Palo Alto 4 times a year, I'll do a tour the next time I'm out there in mid-summer.

I hate to say, I did finalize in March and proceeded to upgrade to performance plus when it became available, and I am very antsy with the wait. I am ready to officially kick my Prius to the curb.

RED DELIVERY UPDATE! Just received an email from my Product Specialist and they have moved our RED delivery up so we will be acquiring RED this afternoon, following our 2 pm scheduled tour. Pictures on the way later this PM.:smile:

Can't wait for the photos.
I just made my cash payment and I'm waiting for the countersigned MVPA to get the PenFed check for the balance. Delivery is not far off -- less than two weeks I'm guessing.
