Driving in Calgary creates so many Tesla moments that I don't think I've ever logged any in the "Tesla Moments" thread (that I can remember). Tesla is very much in the news so many people have heard of them now but there is still a tiny fraction of Teslas among Calgary cars. Don't underestimate the older generation either. Many Octogenarians (and probably older) have approached me about the car and grilled me with questions. Your story about Nissan reminded me that car dealerships are often the places where you can get the most attention - often from the dealers themselves. I was once sitting in the car on the phone and i could see in the camera, two guys staring and pointing until the realized I was watching them. By the time I went in, everyone seemed to know me as the Tesla owner which rather undermined my attempts to negotiate a price on a used car for my niece.

Congrats! Nice to see some P85Ds making their way to Scandinavia, particularly Norway which has been a Tesla stronghold for so long.
You're right about the older folks... had a 70+ guy today stop me to say something along the lines of, "Best car" and blew one of those Italian kisses (like when tasting great food) at the car. So funny.

Hmm... I may have to find some of these. The old ones are nice, but they fall apart after a while :-\

They are available in the Tesla accessories shop though maybe you could nag your SC about lack of swag with your delivery.

Too bad you didn't know. You could have gotten a picture of yourself with all three of them!

Actually, your DS (or the DS acting as your DS that day) may be the one that missed the opportunity to mess with YOU a bit, instead of the other way around. He should have initially tried to give you your black hole car as the car you were picking up, and waited for your reaction when you checked for the heated steering wheel in that one.

Again I'm amazed by your prankster instincts. I'm guessing that my delivery specialist was too relieved to be able to show me my fully working Tesla and to reduce my level of annoyance than to risk raising it again. It would have been funny to watch my reaction though - candid camera moment.

In the meantime, nearly 1 week later, the car is still in Vancouver, and may not leave until Thursday the earliest (at least 10 days from when it arrived in Vancouver). Clearly this is still a very weak link in the delivery chain and one reason why a service center in Calgary seems increasingly necessary. We have enough deliveries here now that the current arrangements for delivery are clearly not meeting the demand. My wrap was supposed to start this week. This will be the third time I've re-scheduled and they are pretty busy so I may have to wait a while.

A friendly bird, not my DS, sent me a tip today that my and other norwegian cars _might_ be on the ship Tarago and that its next trip will be with a ship called Autoracer scheduled to dock in Drammen on the 12th of february...

Link to track Taragos trip across the ocean(click "Show Track"): http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/oldshipid:308091/oldmmsi:257672000/olddate:lastknown#

This is very exiting and a bit scary as I havent got a confirmation. thing is the scheduled docking date corresponds beatifully with the estimated delivery data of the 19th of february I got on my invoice:)

My P85D went into production, according to the website on 22 January 2015 and is ...still "in the middle of production" according to the Tesla DS I spoke to THIS morning (2 Feb 2015). She is telling me "production is slowed down" but there are no reasons or explanations given. Anybody else seeing or hearing similar slowdown? I thought production was typically 4-5 working days?

Just curious and confused, but both states are personal norms.

I think many of us have been seeing delays above the usual productin time. No obvious explanation. I was told the car was "in paint" and it seemed to remain there. If I had to guess I would say it's something to do with seat supply and nothing to do with paint.

George - trying calling the Rocklin guys, they can see a little more detail on their computer in terms of where exactly your car is in production. If it's stuck in QC/inspection, my guess is its related to NextGen seat shortage referenced in the other threads.

Our P85D is in production from 16/1. Our estimated delivery in last february. Do you think it manages to end of month. Pick up in Tilburg

Mine is in production since January 15. My Tesla contact has no idea why it is taken so long. There is certainly a good reason and I'm sure the car will only get better. I've been waiting for 7 months now. A couple of weeks extra won't hurt.

gtspirit.com wrote this in 2013 "The car comes as an electric engine, a chassis and a set of batteries, shipped from California to Tilburg separately to save on import costs", is this true now and for P85D EU-cars? In that case, it could be risky (and wrong) to state production complete before this step, but I see a few EU cars with "Finished production date" in the spreadsheet.

jpet did you learn any of this on your factory tour?

Given the NDA I signed I'm not sure I can elaborate on the subject. Let me just say that no D has arrived in Tilburg yet so they don't know in how many pieces the Ds will ship.

Do you think that send tesla from east or west coast?

The cars are tested in Fremont, disassembled in several pieces and put in containers. Those are first put on a train to New York and subsequently on a cargo ship to Rotterdam. Finally the containers are put on a truck to Tilburg where the cars are reassembled.

However, if I'm correct, cars for Norway are shipped from NY to a port in Norway.

My car has been in production since 01/09 and is still stuck. Wrote a second email to my DS enquiring the delay. I've seen other cars pass from production to transit in 4 days which seems very odd.

My delivery window has not changed and I'm sure Tesla wants it in my hands before the end of Q1. I don't worry about it. Because there are quite a few cars in the same situation, they probably have a part issue or something like that. The famous rear next gen seats is the first thing that comes to my mind.

Cars destined for Norway are finished in Fremont and shipped to Norway either directly from the U.S. or via the Netherlands. Not reassembled, just moved from one ship to another.

It's because we are not part of the EU (and also because there's no import taxes on EVs in Norway).
