VW CFO Frank Witter denied any VW involvement during a Bloomberg Market and Finance interview on Sep 5th:

Bloomberg:
"Were you approached during the Tesla go private plan? Were you involved?"

Witter:
"No, I heard about the rumours too. There is no substance from our perspective. That were discussions entirely up to Tesla and we were not part of it"

Relevant segment begins at 1:26 min into this video:

No one that participated in any kind of VERBAL negotiations would EVER confirm with the way everything went down. EVER. They will deny, deny, deny. It is the path of least resistance. That’s how this works and it is one of the things Elon definitely knows about and should have taken into account.

Note that another article only said "German carmaker", not Volkswagen - so the WSJ could have misidentified which one it was.

The Spanish version of this video has 1M views 92k likes an 1k dislikes. Maybe the USA hates Tesla ... Haha

The USA wants to "MAGA" and reduce the trade deficit, but is trying to kill something that would get rid of two things we import that make up 50-75% of our trade deficit... (oil and ICE automobiles)

Awesome 3q numbers coming in shortly, given deliveries and production.

V9 update looking so good that it's what the media should be talking about.

Brokerage account looks depressing, given I was expecting this to move the stock the other way, and had short term bets.

Can't wait to see the earnings report. I know whatever happens with the law suit, Elon is going to be associated with Tesla. He should strike a deal to make JB and Jerome co-CEOs, remain as the chairman of the board, and become Not-The-CEO for 2 years. That should placate SEC.

The panic in the market was totally uncalled for. Elon is not going to walk away from Tesla, and nobody is going to overrule Elon at Tesla, whatever his official title is. This is stupidity.

Hope the team of Elon's lawyers throw the book at SEC and get them to settle for something inconsequential.
