Turn radius

What's ppl thought the u turn radius? The loaner P85+ I am driving doesn't seem to be as good as the Lexus GS I'm used to.

There's no doubt it's not as small as the 2001 Prius (9.4 m), but in almost all cases I can make a U turn without additional maneuvering.

I think the S turning radius is quite reasonable for such a big car.

It's much tighter than our 2008 Mazda6 (which is quite a bit smaller).

It's not as tight as my Lexus IS... I have the D, and in general I feel that it turns with slight understeer. Still the best car ever though

I'm curious if it is improved on the D models?At the Model X unveil, the turning radius of an AWD car with independent wheels was touted. Same should be true of the S, no?

I find Tesla's turn radius to be similar to what you'd expect of such a car.
Its got a big turn radius, but thats not something to complain about.
You want a huge turn radius, try a ferrari. Even making left hand turns from a relatively narrow lane in that car is a chore.

That would be the 2004+ Prius, 2001-2003 had a smaller turning radius

37' is the turning DIAMETER. I have two W211 Mercedes E500s. One RWD, the other AWD. My 85D turning circle appears to slot in closer to the AWD. I need to swing a little wider to make the 180 turn into the parking space I use at work vs. what I needed with the RWD, about the same as the AWD when I would take it. One of the reasons the 85D was an easy decision.

My BMW 5 series has a 39.4 ft turning radius, so the model s is tighter than that at 37'.

I still think they should have a differential braking mode where the inside wheel brakes were applied differentially to tighten up very low speed turns.

Given the complaints about tire wear, I suspect that's the last thing they would want to do.
