I love the fact that the website says "Estimated delivery: July" today, even though that is not even remotely possible. Even the guys in the show rooms told me August for my June Estimate... It must be October now.

you say that but unless your car is one of the 1300 RHD VINS already registered with the NTSB i.e. built already or very soon then it is quite possible Tesla will register 5000 RHD vins next week and do a batch of RHD all at once. Yours could be built on the Monday, one ordered tomorrow could be built on the Friday and they could be on the same boat. Not saying its likely but its possible .

Given that international shipping occurs in ship sized batches someone has have the first car ordered on a boat and someone has to be the last so the waiting time will not be linear and different people will have quite different experiences.

I am guessing though that individual ships will not be 100% UK cars i.e. they will mix Mainland Europe and UK. Not sure the delivery operation in UK would be geared for that volume all at once.

Also worrying that the build quality is so poor that I have seen checklists published to help identify all the common faults

I'd phrase that differently.

Tesla Pre Delivery Inspection is notoriously poor. So IF there are faults there is a disappointingly high chance that they won't be picked up and fixed before delivery :(

So the lists form a useful check to make sure you spot all possible faults and point them out to delivery specialist when you take the car (or reject it ...)

but in practice either no faults, or minor and will be fixed (under warranty) at a service arranged at your convenience (well ... hardly convenient at all, but ...)

That's a great point. I only had the option of Burmingham or Heathrow as pick-up points for my SR+ (I'm in Cambridgeshire so both of them are a pain in the arse) so I imagine there are only a handfull of options in total.

Trying to fill them with even a few hundred cars at once will bring them to a stand still, let alone many thousand.

Appox 4,000 of us ordered while expected delivery sat at June, it then went to July for a few weeks and back to June last Friday when the prices dropped.
It was totally within Tesla's gift to build and ship cars for June, if it's chosen not to take action to fulfill its obligation then there are consequences

But all those constraints were known at the time the website was enticing people in with June delivery, any basic ERP would have identified the number of vehicles per month.
Tesla's had the basic maths explained to it be sl after five weeks has done nothing to reset expectations.
People will ligitimately have sold there existing cars on the basis of expectations set.
Brace for impact.

What consequences?!

Anyone who has sold their car believing they will get a guaranteed delivery in June based on the estimated delivery is a little foolish. It even says it’s an estimate.

It’s the same with any manufacturer, if you’re not buying an inventory car there can always be delays. I see it happen all the time, it’s not just Tesla.

+1 on only Birmingham or Heathrow pick-up and we live in Buckingham, so both are over an hour away. They are going to be seriously busy when the boat arrives! I'm getting very cold feet on going for an early UK Model 3 delivery as it will almost inevitably be utter chaos on delivery and PDI will be non-existent, which to be fair is the same for all Tesla deliveries!

I'm feeling much better about cancelling and waiting until the initial UK deliveries are over and done with before ordering again, maybe aiming for a spring 2020 delivery. Finance options should be much clearer by then too. Right now I can't even access the Blackhorse finance page from my Tesla account, it just comes up blank!

I'm still ahead of my mum's TT order! Although she does have much more reliable and believable delivery info. She also isn't monitoring the Audi website religiously for changes in spec or price.

The is a strange intersection of industries going on here and it's interesting to watch. I think I got over my annoyances at the start of may when the RWD LR didn't come over :-(. I'm now just waiting for the phone call with a mental flow chart mapped out of what I'll accept and what I won't. No point getting angry, all part of being an early adopter.

Definitely appreciate the cold feet, in my case I've got my EST 0% loan approved and who knows when that offer may be removed so going to stick with it.

That's weird, I would have thought they'd of given you Dartford over Heathrow.

My only delivery Option was Edinburgh and I'm in Northern Ireland! Really hoping there aren't any issues with the vehicle when picking it up as I'll have booked boats etc

There will be probably be minor issues, but unlikely to be anything serious enough to prevent you from driving it home. Then you should be able to get the "issues" sorted at your local Tesla SC, presuming there is one over there. Don't expect them to carry out a proper PDI as Tesla just don't do that. Even if a wheel was missing on delivery, they probably wouldn't notice until you pointed it out or tried to drive it away.

:) Hopefully no wheels missing! Closest SC is Dublin which is 1.1/2 hours away which I can handle

It appears that only certain SCs are delivering model 3s at this time. My nearest Tesla SC by far is Milton Keynes, but it wasn't on the list of delivery options - I only had Birmingham or Heathrow to pick from. They are both over an hour away, while MK is about 20 mins drive.
Oh right. My options was Heathrow or Dartford. Maybe they only have a certain amount they can receive?

When you pick it up I would just go round with a checklist and make a note of anything obviously faulty. But I wouldn't stress too much as they are pretty chilled about fixing any faults reported later. I had a handful of very minor quality issues when I took delivery of my Model X and I got them all sorted at the first service a year later. I didn't even need to report any of the issues on delivery. It was a much better experience than dealing with warranty issues with Porsche.
