Upstate / Western New York Delivery

I like to check out delivery threads for different areas of the country to get a feel for how things are going in general across the U.S. Until I just looked at the Tesla map for NY State, I had no idea how limited the delivery centers were for a lot of you guys in State. My relatives were all on Long Island so kind of clueless to other areas. I guess I can see why Mt Kisco being the most northern store gets much of the delivery business for the rest of the State (Guess Cleveland and Pittsburgh would be the stores closest to western NY). So different for us here in the SF Bay area where we are spoiled really.

I know you guys have mobile coverage for service but too bad those of you like in the Buffalo area can't use the Canadian service centers (unless I'm wrong). Northeast coast there is kind of the new Wild West on the other side of the country as far as Tesla pioneering. LOL. So how large of a community of Tesla owners is there outside of the dense NYC area? Do you see other Teslas on the road? With Tesla starting to really take off with the Model 3, hopefully stores and service centers will be coming closer to you this year and next.
The problem is the state will still not allow SCs out here in the Netherlands of WNY. THERE ARE two Model 3s in my town of 3000 but I haven’t seen others. At the detail shop I use there were 3 3s in at the same time so more are on the way.

In Syracuse I know of 3 other owners, and then there's another one or two I've seen driving around, so it's pretty sparse. There's actually some NYS law that limits the tesla service centers in the state to 5, so until that law gets changed, there won't be any new options closer for us. But they are expanding their mobile coverage. When I first got the car, the mobile guy had to come from buffalo. But now, there's one centered in Syracuse so that helps.

How did you contact them in the buffalo area? I've sent an email via my Tesla.com account 3 weeks ago and haven't gotten any response. My delivery manager supposedly forwarded my email of concerns to the service team at Mt Kisco where I took delivery, that was 10 days ago with no attempt to contact me either. I'm appalled at the service now that they have their money in full. If I don't get any results in the next week or so I'm just going to cut my losses sell the car and go spend my 60k elsewhere

I was told that being in Buffalo I could use the service centers across the border. However that's still a 2 hour drive each way and as per the online scheduling there are no weekend appointments for the next 4 months out. I'm really hoping I can get mobile service or Toronto to at least commit to replacing the scratched trim pieces at time of delivery prior to making the hike there. I've now found some issues with the paint on the bumper as well...

I'm beyond disappointed in the lack of at least an open channel of communication to rectify my issues.

At this point I won't make any recommendations to friends to go buy one

For me it was back in July, so they weren't quite as busy as they are now. But I just called the service number and then I got a call a few days later to set up a mobile service appointment. I haven't had any need for service in a while so I don't have any more recent experiences. But from what I've been reading, it does sound like there are some significant issues with delivery and post-delivery service, so I hope they get those taken care of quickly. Because otherwise it will start to have a tangible impact on the success of what is really an amazing car.

@SMAlset
I live between Buffalo and Rochester, NY in my small town I think I'm the only one with a tesla. In both Rochester and Buffalo I've seen only a few tesla's on the road. Nothing like when I was visiting a friend in sanoma County in CA. The good thing is super chargers are always open.

As for service we can use the service center in Canada. I think they have 3 around the Toronto area.

Like other states we have the government to thank for only having 3 tesla "dealers"

As sparse as Tesla is out here (I'm in Naples, NY) south of Rochester,Superchargers are still collecting improper idle fees. I was the only car in the Eastview mall SC and was hit up for an $18 idle fee. Just to be *absolutely* sure, I went through my dashcam and checked. Sure enough no other Teslas used a charger while I was there.
I've had the same thing happen (but with one other car) in the Binghampton SC.
Congrats on the Salamanca SC coming in :)

I heard (on this site or maybe another) that Tesla will revoke the idle charges in a case like this. Might be worth a call. By the way, I and my Model 3 are usually located in Bloomfield, NY, just north of you. I say 'usually' because I spend the winter in the southwest US. I just drove out here in my Model 3 - very enjoyable and no supercharger crowding issues even though I traveled during the Christmas/New Years holiday period.

Still waiting for him to contact me from a few days ago...
Anyway, here is the Delivery Manager's name and email.

So I found out yesterday that there has been a lot of turn over at Mt Kisco (hopefully for the good!)... I was told that the Manager is also "no longer with the company"... And finally I'm making some headway with my issue from my October delivery! Fingers crossed!

I'm hoping to order the M3 tonight and just spoke with support. They are saying that home delivery is available for me in Rochester. Has anyone here taken a home delivery? I really don't want to have to drive to NYC to take delivery if I can avoid it. What was the home delivery process like? What's the advantage of taking delivery at a service station?

My home delivery I think unique because I live in Sodus and the driver wanted to do my delivery to a Walmart parking lot.

I was contacted by delivery specialist who completed the paperwork and actually communicated to me and my insurance person. I was then contacts by the person in charge from Mt Kisco. The date and time was set and I received a call that AM from the driver who ended up dropping my car on the side of the road on Main St in Sodus 30 minutes earlier than planned.

He showed me how to open the doors, denied knowing anything about the car, had me sign on his smartphone and then he drove away. I found some paperwork on the seat and thebtecognized that there was no license plates on the car. I found them in the trunk but I couldn’t find mounting brackets or screws which I found later. So I drove away illegally.

I suggest to not fret about blips because they will happen. You will get a remarkable vehicle.

I had the option of home delivery but elected to drive to Mt Kisco and pickup the car myself. Tesla arranged and paid for a one way car rental for me. I did this because I was told that any damage to the car during transport would be the liability of the transport company, and I didn't want to end up with a situation where if the car showed up damaged both sides would insist the other was responsible.

When I picked up the car, a delivery specialist spent 30 - 45 minutes going over the car and controls with me and applied the plates. This was last August and I suspect they were less busy back then, so YMMV there.

I can’t argue the above points about picking up vehicle. But be sure Tesla covers the cost of transportation and/hotel accommodations if needed.

My car was clearly detailed before delivery. They actually missed the truck first try because my 12V battery was replaced.

I don’t know now but Mt Kisco was a disorganized zoo from reports from others.

I got there at 8am due to flight being early for a 10am scheduled delivery. I didn't leave to go see the car and accept delivery until after 130p. Absolutely awful process at MT Kisco back in December as they pushed us to believe buying before the tax credit changed in 2019 was in our best interest. Also had a 450 mile drive home that they were aware of, and delivered the car with 70% charge... Good of you to wait until 2019 apparently. Hopefully you get the AP and FSD sorted out if you ordered with EAP
