This thread is very interesting. Website says I am getting mine (Sodus, NY) before the end of the year which I do not really believe.

When they brought their dog and pony show to Rochester, three different guys told me that anyboroblems would be handled w then coming w a lowner car and carrying mine away. Of course this is the deal maker if true.

Is that verified the truth because previously when I called Tesla about. Buying a S I was told I had to take it to Mt Kisko. And if it was dead or if there was something like a seat belt recall, “oh, you can truck it to us.”

They lost the sale at that point.

Can anyone verify what is correct?

Hi,

Got a VIN today! I live in Rochester NY. Talked to Tesla, they had me down for pick up in Pittsburgh NY. Maybe I selected that as closest dealer when S shopping a while back? Toronto is closest, then CLE, then Pittsburgh, then NYC/Mt. Kisco.

I explained that I'd read that if I pick up in Mt Kisco my state rebate goes from $500 to $2000. Tesla rep says "oh, hmmmm, NY, right ok then we need to get you a new / maybe different VIN, this might delay things". Weird. She also said they only do home deliveries in Rhode Island (and one other state) because they don't have a license there.

I was under the impression that home delivery was an option.
Home Delivery | Tesla
Does anyone know if this has been discontinued?

Other NY residents that live far from NYC, how did you take delivery?

Thanks.

From Model 3 Vehicle Warranty site:

If my Model 3 needs service, will I get a service loaner vehicle?
We want your Tesla Service experience to be as convenient as possible. For the duration of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, if service on your vehicle will take longer than 4 hours, a service loaner vehicle will be provided for you. If a service loaner vehicle is not available, we can help arrange you with a rental car.

From Model 3 New Vehicle Limited Warranty Booklet:

Roadside Assistance

Tesla Roadside Assistance is a service intended to minimize inconvenience when your Tesla vehicle is inoperable. This service is available to you 24/7 by calling 877-798-3752. For vehicle malfunctions due to warrantable issues, transportation services, provided by Roadside Assistance, are covered by Tesla for the first 500 miles (800 km) to the nearest Tesla Service Center. You are responsible for transportation costs beyond 500 miles (800 km) or any additional transportation from such locations to any additional location. The vehicle must be covered by a Tesla New Vehicle, Used Vehicle, or Used Vehicle Extended Limited Warranty and located in the North America Region at the time Roadside Assistance is requested

Pretty sure you'd be covered. I've heard various stories, but the above test came from documents. Loaners or Enterprise rentals is what I heard, but it also sounds like they're still trying to figure things out.

WNY, where our politicians protect us from dangerous things like like Tesla dealerships, ride-sharing and cryptocurrency exchanges.

Optimistically the dealership proximity issue will be resolved within the next year or so, I know they are working on Albany diligently and once we all start rolling around in 3s the pressure will increase. Fingers crossed they start with Rochester, sorta-central to Buf & Syr.

I'm not sure about Mt. Kisco requirement for service. A friend of mine with an S would use Cleveland or Pittsburgh (about 50-60 miles closer). He bought the S used but under warranty and Telsa would support him with pick-up/drop-off and rental. However his warranty recently expired, he had a problem, and had to battle hard with them for the previously provided logistical support. Given that, he chose to sell it last month.

Little birdie told me that the Albany store was just approved. Not sure how that works with their current NADA-approved restrictions, but that's 1 step closer to me.

I checked distance to Cleveland and Pittsburgh, and they seemed to be farther away (although it may be a nicer drive).

In the end, it didn't matter, and ordered the vehicle using Mt Kisco as the pickup location (NY rebate).

So apparently the VIN i got was routed to Pittsburg PA instead of Mt Kisco. After I confirmed an in store delivery, I lost my VIN and am now waiting for a new one. I hope it doesn't take too long, it's already been a few days :(

Also I was offered a car rental and 1-night hotel (up to $250) stay for the delivery.

Same thing happened to me re Pittsburgh. It was only 1 day lag for new VIN fortunately. You might have a new one already but with the updated / delayed visibility to VIN thing, maybe you can't see it.

I'm driving down to Mt Kisco tonight, delivery tomorrow.

I've been checking using all the new methods, still no VIN. I think your case is the one that I saw before it happened to me, so I wasn't too surprised but had hoped it wouldn't happen anyway :(

Good luck tomorrow!!

Wondering for those of you that have gone this route, does your choice of home delivery vs. a center come up once you get a VIN and rep assigned? I completed my order recently (was waiting on AWD), and when I entered my zip code (Canandaigua), it just automatically said - we'll set you up for home delivery. I work for a company where if there's a seat available, you can ride the corp jet for free which makes a trip down to NYC 3x a week, so planning to head down there for delivery when the time rolls around and make the roadtrip home - but just wondering if that's something that comes up later, or as they ramp up volume, is this something we're getting less of a choice around?

CdgaBill, I live in Bloomfield (just down the road) and I got a call today from my ISA who talked me out of home delivery. They will provide an Enterprise car rental and 1 night hotel if you pick up the vehicle at Mt. Kisco. I also understand that to take advantage of the $2000 New York rebate you need to pick it up at a Tesla delivery center, the nearest of which is Mt. Kisco (3.5 hour drive). When your ISA contacts you he/she will try to talk you out of home delivery as well.
BTW, I don't have a delivery date yet but am confident it will be either late June or early July.

More like once the politicians start rolling around in their Ss and Xs things will change.

Yes delivery location came up when the ISA called, shortly after VIN assignment.
My understanding became the same as Ranss - Mt. Kisco required for $2000 instead of $500. I get the sense the website isn't applying appropriate rules for S/X vs 3.

Today marks 1 week w/ the car for me. As a first time Tesla owner and life long car enthusiast, the car is incredible. We absolutely love it. Fit/finish looks much better than what has been reported / was on display at the car museum earlier this year in Rochester. That said, my delivery experience was mediocre. During their final inspection (before taking me to the car) they determined that the driver's door handle wasn't performing properly. They demonstrated it to me and offered "fix now, ~45 minutes" or "fix later at your convenience". Given the 310 mile distance (or 250 to Pittsburgh) I elected "now". It took about 2 hours after my walk through (full door panel removal). Fortunately I had my laptop and they have good wifi, so I worked. Perfect world they would have identified prior to that morning, but cool they pointed it out and got in front of it.

Fellow western New Yorker here waiting on M3 awd. Is it still true in order to get the 2000 rebate I have to take delivery in NY? I would have thought it had more to do with where you registered the vehicle. Really wanted to pick up in California and drive back. NY has reciprocity agreement with CA so wouldn't be double taxed but if I would lose the 2000 rebate that would be a game changer.

I believe you can take home delivery without losing the $2,000. I elected to pick mine up in person so I could get it a little earlier, and because I was told by my delivery specialist that they use a third party trucking company for home deliveries, and once its on the truck any damage is the moving companies responsibility. I didn't want to take the risk of two companies finger pointing at each other if there was damage to the car when it arrived.

Good point I think I'll probably do the same, if I don't go mad first hitting the refresh button to see if I've been assigned a VIN.

From Rochester here. PIcking up in Mt. Kisco on 9-28-18.
I am from Rochester (Webster ) too. Just got a called from Delivery advisor asking if I can pick up M3 from Pittsburgh store on 28th, I asked about what does it mean for $2000 NY rebate, she had no answer and said someone else will call with an answer...and for further scheduling. Does this happen to you as well? Is it true if we pick up in PA, we don't get NY rebate or still eligible if registering in NY?

I would proceed with extreme caution. We wanted to pick up cars in Cleveland but never got a straight answer about the NYS $2000 credit.
