What do they do in Fremont delivery?

The rep at the store was kind of mysterious about this. Something about putting your car on a stage?

Also, anyway to avoid the $1,000 delivery charge. We live 10 minutes from the factory. Seems a bit steep.

You get a tour of the factory. See the stamping machines, all the cool robots, and stuff like that.
It's well worth a few hours of your time.

I think the OP was referring to the delivery center in Fremont. AFAIK there are no longer deliveries at the factory. My avatar is from the Fremont delivery center when we picked up our X in December. They give you a short group tutoria after paperwork is done,l then take you to the car and help you set up nav/phone etc. they may do more for the uninformed, I don't know. I didn't have any questions since I learned everything here long ago.

Youre stuck with the 1k delivery charge, I believe Tesla uses the same amount to average out the cost of deliveries. The local deliveries help cover cost of those farther away.
