What is the length of the home charging cable that comes with a M3?

I'm confused. The website says that the model 3 comes with a 20 ft. home charging cable. When the sales person showed me the included home charging cable in the nice little bag, no way it looked like 20 ft.

I'm just trying to do some planning on where the outlet should go in my garage.

I suggest locating the outlet a lot closer than 20 feet. You may want to charge in the driveway, charge a second car, or other unexpected/unplanned uses.
