Where to see a real live Model 3 in Massachusetts

Can one of you guys or someone else with a Model 3 make it to Gillette HQ near South Boston tomorrow 11-1pm? They’re having their annual EV Day and we had an S, a 3 and my X lined up, but the 3 just cancelled today due to a business meeting. PM me if you can, or have questions.

Thanks,
Peter

Unfortunately even the Gillette employee with a Model S didn’t show, so my X was the only Tesla along with a Bolt, an i3 and a Prius Prime - all brought by dealers. Smaller turnout of cars this year - the last time I went a couple years or so ago they had Leaf, Mercedes B, e-Golf and Volt. Everyone was wowed by the X but also by its price range. Would have been great to point them to the 1/2 price M3. Next year.

If you want to have a look at Model 3 before ordering, and live west of Boston (I'm in Weston), PM me. My wife's Model 3 arrived couple of weeks ago. Would be willing to meet you somewhere around Weston to show it. I went through the same trouble of trying to find a Model 3 to see before ordering one, so I know how that feels.

I’d be interested in taking you up on this offer if you’d be so kind... I’m in Boston so your location is a bit closer to me than the other poster who mentioned Chelmsford...

Just left the Natick store. My brother was looking into solar and power wall for his house and we met Henry. Def the coolest person I've met at a Tesla store so far. Henry owns a Model 3 and actually took us forba test ride in it. I was already ordering mine, but adtaf that drive my brother is as well .He was blown away (I had a pretty good idea of what it would be like). The missing Alcantara on the headliner does not bother me (I thought it would) because the thing you do touch, the interior door panels are Alcantara and feel great. Sound system is awesome, and the speed...I currently own a 2017 WRX STI and this still felt very very fast to me.

It's silly, but I have been hoping to not see one until I get mine. Makes me feel more on the cutting edge. ;) I expect to be seeing quite a few soon. I just got an email from my Direct Ship Specialist and was surprised to learn that the options for NH are either home delivery or pickup at Mt. Kisco, NY, over 3 hours away. I had assumed pickup would be at Dedham, but that probably runs into problems with Mass. taxes. The irony is that I will driving near Mt. Kisco next week on my way home from a trip, so that would actually work out perfectly, but I doubt that the timing will work. I don't have a delivery date yet.

I'm in the same situation re: Mt. Kisco pickup. Waiting to hear when it will get there. I know my car is already on a train to Alabama.

If you take delivery in MA, you are required by MA law to pay sales tax, regardless of your state of residence and where (or if) you ultimately register it (CA is the only other state I know of that does this). This is different from most states which only charge sales tax at registration. My S was delivered to my house, for this reason.

I'm pretty sure Tesla can lose their sales tax permit if they don't collect it from you (effectively yanking their ability to sell products in MA). Years ago non-MA residents could pick up a Dedham via some workaround - I think corporate transferred the car to Tesla NJ, who was the official seller. The buyer drove off with a NJ temp tag. NJ got wind of this and issued a cease-and-desist.

So buyers from NH, ME, and VT (all states with lower sales tax than MA) need to have the car delivered to them or go to NY (or any state other than MA).

This is why, IMHO, Tesla needs a Delivery Center in NH - home delivery/pick up 3 hours away won't scale for a high volume car.

On a separate note, they don't do registrations for NH cars - you need to go to Town Hall yourself. That's a (wonderful) feature of the way NH does registrations (one less need to go to the DMV).
