How good are Tesla’s in Australia’s extreme heat?

Thanks for all the responses folks I’ve left the survey open to April so we can get a full season of votes (and you can change your vote). who voted terrible??? What’s up my primary observation is when parked in driveway which is roughly east west. Windscreen to the west, it really heats up...

You have your Model 3 - how much head turning do you get?

I’ve actually found lots of people are interested. Very difficult to get away quickly at a rapid charger as people come over for a chat about the car. I’ve had people approach me in shopping center car parks and ask lots of questions. Kids are definitely the most aware. I was driving down a...

TESLA OWNERS ARE AWESOME!!! My Tesla Model 3 has been nominated as 'Groomsmans' car for a friend's wedding this coming Saturday. I wanted to do it without the Aero's. (I like them, but they're not everybody's cup of tea...) Problem was, Tesla didn't have stock of the wheel cap kits that...

Model 3 GPS position error in tunnel

Autopilot doesn't use GPS for lane positioning or driving etc etc. Elon has been very clear in the past that using GPS to keep the car on the road and in it's lane etc etc basic driving is an insane idea and should never be done. It's purely using it's own sensors - Sight, Radar and...

Model 3 GPS position error in tunnel

I was intrigued by how well my model 3 maps worked in the Mullum Mullum tunnel in Melbourne the other day, showed my progress through the tunnel quite accurately. Then I remembered there is a GPS beacon device to assist GPS in tunnels - which perhaps is installed in that particular tunnel. OR...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Congrats Tasmania!!!! now you only need 20-30thousand more of them and your conservative government might sit up and take notice... but the great thing is it's almost entirely renewable energy powered.... so even a few of them to start is brilliant!!! Hope to see more chargers installed...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Slightly off topic - but hopefully amusing.... My mums old Ford Focus (2006) auto transmission has been playing up this year, and Ford on three visits has sworn black and blue there's nothing wrong (and billed her $300 each time to tell her there's nothing wrong!!). Finally took it to Auto...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

OK - Somebody has to say it. I HAD A PRETTY GREAT DELIVERY EXPERIENCE, NO ISSUES WITH THE CAR OTHER THAN ONE MINOR SCUFF THAT'S BARELY VISIBLE. I'M COMPLETELY HAPPY. (car was charged to 81% or so, I was not rushed, I was there 45 mins because I took it outside parked to check it over...

Model 3 tow package in Australia

So for the record, When I spoke to Tesla about this a couple of months back (I was waiting also - expecting it to be a factory fit option only like for Europe versions) I was told that: a) The European one is factory fit option only due somehow to regulations in Europe. b) that the Tesla hitch...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

It's a rather odd feeling after all these years.... Tesla OWES ME $4500! lol. (my car on novated lease, so my reservation fee plus order deposit have to be refunded as novated lease MUST be the the full value of car...)

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I had pilot sport 4's on my previous Subaru STI that I swapped for the Tesla Model 3 SR+. All I can say is, yes you notice the tyre noise more, but ONLY because there's absolutely no other noise.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I'm same situation - took delivery 26th Sep. She did warn me they're way behind on that paperwork just so many cars, plus because the original transaction was 2+ years ago it takes in my case VISA a long time to process it. So she warned me it may be 3-4 weeks. (remember it's illegal to send...

Start at top of hill - proceed downwards.... nah seriously I can get that too - in not much heat, and relatively flat highway speed about 100km/h it'll get that.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Welcome to the club!! They’re a tad busy delivering thousands of cars right now. If you have non finance related questions I’m sure if you post them here we are all happy to answer them. Although you may get 3 different answers to each question so up to you... ;-) I find 03 9039 6000 option 3...

Omg I’m dumb lol.... you’re absolutely correct I hadn’t thought of that thank you!! (Tesla sensors obviously more sensitive than my Subaru he doesn’t set them off there.)

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Hey does anybody know if you can turn off the back seat sensors? Can’t find it in the manual or the screen menus. With the dog in the back seat his buckle strap thingy goes into the left seat, but when he moves over to the right seat it bongs the seatbelt warning at me.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Just had the wall charger installed by Johnstone Electrics. $440 for the Tesla wall charger install plus $50 for adding a 10amp out the front so I can trickle charge using the portable charger if the Tesla is relegated to the front lawn. Single phase, used 4mm core cable which for that...

If uve got cash to burn go for it. (But as per discussion in the fsd thread purchase after delivery. ). Personally for those limited features I don’t see the point yet. However I do see purchasing it as a financial hedge in a way as obviously the fsd feature set is going to improve greatly in...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Semantics, you get my point. The irony that Australian companies are producing kit that is top of the league globally, while our ridiculous government says you’ll lose your weekends, or it’ll be faster to walk to Wagga, I mean the fact that aussies can do that against the torent of negativity...

Oh really.., my Tesla wall connector install is Tuesday morning, then (ironically, and since I have a couple days off work) was planning o drive down to Torquay and try it. It’s ok I don’t mind paying... I want to pay!!! Making them free won’t make more of them appear where we want/need them so...

No no the chargefox (ABB) chargers are 350kw ultra chargers with both ccs2 and chademo connectors, they plug straight in to Tesla model 3. Use chargefox app to authenticate. (Although I’ve found the app a bit hit and miss so going to call them tomorrow and request an rfid tag). Each of those...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

I have to admit somebody said they looked at their golf gti and realised it wasn’t perfect... I then looked at my 10 year old Subaru and it’s near as perfect. And it’s had it’s roof and a fender and bonnet replaced!, (no I didn’t roll it, Eureka tower lost a window in high winds a few years...

So I was half way through watching this vid and Tesla called and said my car just arrived. Actually still had the vid playing as she spoke and I was laughing... she said what are you laughing at? I explained the vid she's gone to look it up on youtube. So this video is a good omen/lucky...

Post delivery FSD purchase for Model 3 not available online

At work I'm sometimes called 'The Can Opener' - because I keep opening cans of worms. I'm actually a network and storage engineer with IBM so I look after really big customers. It's kinda my job to think of every possible bad scenario and mitigate them. It's in my nature. Seems I'm doing...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Ouch $1000+ is way too much if it's simple install. I booked my local sparky, who has never done a Tesla one before but was eager to try it. He's quoted $400 for a roughly 15m cable run (I'm only doing 16amp so will lock down the wall charger to it's 3kw option with the dip switches) but he's...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

In the Phone App you should have the 'summon' option. I'm actually not sure how to tell from the main screen menu's - it's in the manual but I can't remember off top of my head. (I kinda skipped the navigate on autopilot section as I didn't want to tempt myself to pay yet more $$ )

Tow Hook Cap ???? I was told tow hitch has to be fitted after delivery and was not yet available in australia! EDIT: Ooooh you probably mean the front bumper cap where the hook to 'tow the car' goes.... sorry my bad EDIT2: It just occurred to me why they might have had that tow hook cap off...

Post delivery FSD purchase for Model 3 not available online

Right so what constitutes an 'arrangement'. If you talk to them about it beforehand and they say 'you know what, save some tax, buy it later'. they would presumably get in trouble. If you ask them about it before purchase, and decide to wait, does that constitute an arrangement. I find the...

Post delivery FSD purchase for Model 3 not available online

Yes Tesla is liable not the consumer but Tesla would obviously charge the consumer for that LCT liability. So if AFTER receiving my car, I go back to Tesla and add a modification (one which COULD have been fitted pre-purchase, such as FSD license, or I don't know - tow bar, or fancier wheels...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

ITTAH are you saying you just bought FSD after you'd collected your car? If so can you tell me, did they charge you Luxury Car Tax on the FSD purchase? (see other thread where we're trying to figure this out).
  46. S

Post delivery FSD purchase for Model 3 not available online

See previous in this thread the link to the legislation. An example is if you buy a new luxury car, and sell it for MORE than what you paid for it used within 2 years, more LCT is due on it. But the question is how long do you have to wait to get away with no LCT on FSD. Tesla apparently...
  47. S

Post delivery FSD purchase for Model 3 not available online

You must have SR+ which is right on the boundary of LCT with FSD license. In Vic the FSD license would have added $600 Luxury Car Tax. ACT Probably cos you have savings elsewhere you stayed below it. No I'm more interested in the principle of the thing - for cars that are above the LCT...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Only took her about a minute to find it when I gave her then RN number. Given they're on car carriers they have to be readily drivable so I presume the computer/lte connection is actually on and working so Tesla can probably see these little clusters of 10/12 Tesla's darting around the country...

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Shuffling the cars around in Fremont. Shuffling the cars around the dock lot at Oakland. Shuffling the cars around the paddock in Sydney. Plus if they replaced the battery and had to do anything with brakes (the brake fluid thing) they would have had to test drive it. So I don't think 53km...
