Dog owners -- anyone have a VarioCage in the cargo space?

I have a 90 lb Lab in a VarioCage Double Large. It just barely fits in a MYLR but it does fit, you are definitely not limited to the Double Medium. You can extend it a few inches out from the smallest setting, but not all the way. Note you can't just push it straight back due to the side bolts...

    FSD Beta 10.69

Just got 2022.44.30.5 on my MYLR, and I do NOT have FSD beta enabled. (I'm also just on a one-month FSD subscription for a road trip, which is already set to cancel.) So this says to me that everyone is finally being merged onto one software release track. What does this mean for non-beta FSD...

    Supercharger - Quanah, TX

Charged there last night...4 of 8 stalls open, as others have noted. It's super easy to access being right on 287. There is indeed a customer-accessible bathroom in the Sonic. It's so new that the car did not want to route me there even when closer to Quanah than Childress, so I had to manually...

    Boombox

The driving sound stayed on all the time for me, until I parked the car and it toggled itself to off. Even going 70mph on the highway.

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

I charged my 2021 LR up to 100% again yesterday for a road trip. Displayed range was 352 miles / 566 km at 54F in my garage. The charge constant from the 100% values is 136.8 Wh/km / 220.2 Wh/mi. Does temperature-related range loss set in at that temp to account for the 1 mile loss, or is this...

Would you buy an Apple Car?

Absolutely. I’m guessing the battery life would be on par with a Tesla, but maybe it won’t accelerate as fast at the same price point. But I’m sure it’ll have other cool features even if it’s slower. Apple entering the market would definitely force Tesla to become a better company overall and...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Just got my update to 2020.48.12.1. Currently showing 167 mi/268 km at 47%, which extrapolates to 355 mi (range of 352 - 359 allowing for a range of 46.5 - 47.4%)/570 km (range of 563 - 574.) I’m at 1067 miles on the odometer, so it’s good to see the full rated range before degradation starts...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

I just got an update to 2020.48.10 on my US 2021 LR. The charge constant is the same...rated range extrapolated to 100% is currently 348 miles.

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

It sounds like it may be deliberately low though...I wouldn’t add any without checking with Tesla. It could be that the “nominal” line is placed incorrectly.

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

Nope, the only sticker under that snap-in lid is the part number for the lid itself. I don’t know all the details, but...the sound from the tires hitting the pavement is partly transmitted through the air in the tire itself, and the tire can also act to amplify the sound. Having the foam causes...

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

I poked around some more with no luck. I was worried that my good flashlight would roll away on the aero shield so I was just using the flashlight on my iPhone (it’s right next to the lens so it should be able to light up the target?) Took a few videos while poking around but don’t see anything...

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

As luck would have it (for you guys, not me :)), I scraped my left rear rim pretty badly a few days ago and decided to use the mobile wheel repair service that my local service center recommended. Stupid wide Model 3...it’s a few inches wider than any other small sedan I’ve had. My car’s jacked...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Unfortunately I forgot to reset the trip meter, and the Teslamate data has a gap so I can’t calculate from that easily (looks like from where cell service was spotty in the mountains.) Good to know on the charging data. Just started looking into all this a few days ago and there’s much to...

Need Pictures from New US Market 2021 Vehicles, Performance, AWD, SR+

Do you have a video showing how to find the motor plate? I poked around with my iPhone recording video behind the rear left tire, but the only part number I managed to capture was a structural element and not the motor. Note that I don’t have a jack (or the pads even if I borrow one)...is this...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

This is a good point, though I was also basing this on the LG batteries supposedly being 74.5kWh usable (unless I’m misunderstanding that.) Both from the math that @AlanSubie4Life did above and looking at my 12->90% supercharging session that added 60.7kWh (== 77.8kWh extrapolated to 100%.) One...

MASTER THREAD: 2021 Model 3 - Charge data, battery discussion etc

Interesting! I just finished my road trip and ran the numbers again...currently showing 158 Wh/km and 356 km projected range at 72%, which translates to 78.1kW (range of 77.3 - 79.0 when accounting for the unrounded ranges of 157.5 - 158.4 Wh/km, 355.5 - 356.4 km, and 71.5 - 72.4% charge.) Thanks for all the advice. And yeah, we are getting off-topic with my trip planning...I’ll leave it at this reply as well, then report back on Sunday when I have some useful stats to share. I spent some time with ABRP, but I wasn’t sure how accurate the numbers are since the reference...

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

I thought just having a supercharger as a destination in the nav heated it for charging, or do I need to do both that and drive 70+ mph to get to an optimal battery temperature? I can always speed up when I’m 20 - 30 miles out from a supercharger. It occurs to me that it might also be harder to...

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

Well I’m not going to supercharge until I’m on my way back home, not on the way out...so it should be plenty warm from highway driving I assume? It’s 155 miles each way from where I am in Portland to Sisters, so hopefully it has the range to make it all the way back (in which case I’ll stop in...

Yup, I’ll take those photos when it reaches 100% and stops charging. And correct, I have an 18” AWD. It’s 55F in my garage but somewhat colder outside. Should I use scheduled departure to get it to warm properly, or can I just set it to 100% before I go to sleep and not worry about that? (Or...

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

I really don’t know yet. I’ve had the car less than a week and haven’t driven more than 20 - 30 miles in a day. I’ve also been driving very inefficiently since this is my first truly fast car ever. :) Now that’s wearing off though. I plan to drive 65 - 70mph max on this road trip on Sunday and...

Currently at 257mi/74% = 347mi extrapolated. Gotta get my wall connector installed so the car doesn’t charge so slowly. :) I’ll charge to 100% on Sunday, and also supercharge for the first time. I actually decided to cancel my OBD order for now...looking at both of the iOS tools available...

What Extension Cord Do I Need For 14-30 Drier Outlet

Oops...I failed to read carefully. It does seem like the only cords below a $100 price point are some sketchy custom-made eBay ones that are not UL-listed. I won’t bother to paste those here.

2021 Model 3 LR - Order Placed 10/16 VIN RECIEVED!

How does one determine the exact manufacturing date? Mine is on the spreadsheet too, but it’s 8368xx, LR, with a VIN date of 11/24/2020. Plate in the driver’s side door jamb only tells me that it was manufactured in 11/20 but not the exact day.

Will Tesla remove FSD from used inventory?

Not exactly the same question, but I asked a Tesla chat rep a few months ago if they could *add* FSD to a new inventory vehicle that didn’t have it (so it could go on my loan and be covered by insurance.) They said that was indeed possible. I didn’t end with an inventory car though so I didn’t...

iOS. Sounds like some folks have had luck with this adapter with iOS, but if it doesn’t work it’s an easy return to Amazon and then I can order the MX+ if needed.

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

Got it, thanks. I found a similar adapter on Amazon and picked up a Veepeak OBD device to go with it. (Seems like a lot of folks recommend the $100 OBDLink MX+, but I suspect the $40 Veepeak will be sufficient for my needs...maybe slower update rate?)

Does this actually help? I’m still on 2020.39.103 after picking up my 2021 LR on Saturday. Been on wifi at home and changed my software update pref to Advanced as soon as I got the car. Also chatted with Tesla support and they told me there were no updates available for my car, but that they...

Just picked up a 2021 LR in the US on Saturday...now I’m curious how large my battery is. Sounds like I should get an OBD device so I can run SMT. Also seems like the German folks get more data in their paperwork than we do. I’m planning to drive about 315 miles round-trip from Portland to...

Can you recommend an easy way to do the 0 - 60 without buying a Dragy? Any iOS apps that are actually good at this? Currently showing 251 miles at 73%, so 344 if full. I’m only at 38 miles (the car came with 5 miles on it) and haven’t charged to 100% yet though. I’ll charge to 100% next...

    Miscalculated sales tax?

That would come out to an extra $0.50 in sales tax, not $0.01. It’d require a $2 line item, and there’s nothing like that...seems like a typo. I agree this is kinda a dumb post, but hey, maybe someone else checked the math on their sales agreement after my dumb post and found an actual issue.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I was thinking about doing this if my order was delayed until the very end of the year anyways. Really glad to be taking delivery tomorrow, but I’ll be kicking myself a little if the tax credit does come through retroactive to Jan 1!

    Miscalculated sales tax?

No...I thought I made it pretty clear that I don’t think it’s a problem worth bugging Tesla about. Just curious if anyone here has seen worse errors on their purchase agreements. Personally I thought it was useful to give folks a heads-up that these seem to be manually entered and to check for...

    Miscalculated sales tax?

Looking at my purchase agreement, the vehicle price is $57290.00. (LR AWD, blue/black, 18” wheels, FSD at $8k price) Vehicle privilege tax is 0.5% on new cars here in Oregon. So that should be $286.45. But Tesla actually charged me $286.46. There are no other line items that would explain the...
