Ticketing for no front plate in Santa Monica and stick-on front plate option

To be sure to get the LPW off without harming the paint (red model 3), has anybody applied a layer of clear 3M vinyl first, then applied the LPW on the clear vinyl? Suggestions? Thanks, Gary

Ticketing for no front plate in Santa Monica and stick-on front plate option

If the car was coated with Ceramic Pro: 1. Would normal 3M clear vinyl stick properly? 2. Would the LPW stick properly? 3. When one applies 3M vinyl, one usually floods the surface with Rubbing Alcohol. When applying the LPW, does one do the same thing? 4. To conform the LPW to a compound curve...

Is this really going to happen? Adding artificial noise. It’s a shame if so.

The new regs show a broad spectrum frequency range, and specify (maybe suggest) db levels, and say that all cars of the same model should have the same sound. So, no custom sounds, and not just higher frequencies. Sound to come ON when not in Park mode (thus, in "idle") and stay on until...

Using TM-Spy to see Model S data.

As a reminder, post 138 of this thread shows the Sept 2015 (and later) Tesla S and X Tesla Diagnostics Connector (TDC), and its location behind the passenger side "hockey-stick" trim piece. I believe that Chris TX still makes a 4-wire adapter from this TDC to an OBD connector, which he sells...

Tesla says it can't be done: But it can: new higher resolution rear camera

Does the Model S have an OBD-II connector?

Having the standard OBD CONNECTOR does not mean any specific device will work. Here's why: Most of the OBD "dongle" devices expect to be plugged into a vehicle which has the emissions-mandated OBD-II signals, pin usage, and command/response structure. The device then communicates, often via...

    Front license plate option

It has been reported that ... If you park at one of the LA area major airports (or at a public parking meter in Santa Monica) without a front plate, you are most likely to get a ticket. Maybe we could work toward getting the use of vinyl plates legal in California.

LNA? If they want to cut into the B post, I could go with you to talk to them, BEFORE they do anything serious. Also, if the airbags were not deployed, I would think that the sensors should be good, and I would ask more about that. If you want some help, just ask. Also, you might remember...

After about 6 weeks in the Body Shop, my MS is returned to me, but it has no streets, traffic, or Satellite View on the touchscreen. Firmware Updates - so whats your geofencing gig?

It might be helpful to remember that the car's GPS position can be wrong by 50 to 300 feet, and even though your car might be physically within the parking lot of the geo-fenced area, the GPS might still be indicating a location just outside the fence, so no download trigger. To get the...

Howto Access Tesla Diagnostic Port behind Infotainment

The TM-Spy app for Android and iOS (currently fairly well developed, and being tested by some owners) needs to connect to the CAN3 bus there to be able to read, display, and gather, save, and display data, like the Battery Pack voltage and current, pack cell voltages, and pack module...

On an older Model S85, like the pre-D models, do NOT pull the cubby straight out, since there are also clips at the back end of the cubby. Just push down gently but firmly on the open mouth of the cubby untill the two "front" (mouth end) clips disengage. Then, on cars that still have the TDC...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA (Qualcomm / Pacific Heights Blvd., 12 V2 stalls)

If you charge at 110 or 120 kW and a car starts charging in the paired stall, they typically get 30 kW and you drop to something like 90 kW ... at a full-power supercharger. But many SpC stations seem to be running is an underpowered mode these days ... around here.
