Gen 3 door handle fix questions

I just used painters tape on the interior and exterior metal to window. When I put it back I made sure the tape lined up before tightening the clamp.

Gen 3 door handle fix questions

The newer one only has one wire that plugs into the door handle control unit? The one I rebuilt from my car this weekend had two (along with the silver motor) just like one of your pictures. I assume the eBay kit is the one with a black motor and only 1 wire? Interesting... Edit: never mind. I...

Gen 3 door handle fix questions

I just pulled my door apart and fixed the metal flipper thingy that breaks. Here are some notes for a future searcher... - I found taking the window off to be *so* far superior to the hack of trying to get the topmost nut off the stud without window removal. My poor knuckles. - My 2017 75D had...

Those with MCU1,AP2.5 and no FSD - what will you do ?

I do use PIN-to-drive, so that might be why my car was bricked. And it happened in my garage which sucked for towing.

Those with MCU1,AP2.5 and no FSD - what will you do ?

MY2017 | MCU1 | HW2.5 | EAP My MCU already failed once bricking my car in the garage. Not sure if they put in a new or refurb'd MCU but I am guessing that extends my countdown timer to the next bricking. Glad it happened under warranty (the first time). Aside from that guillotine hanging over...

URGENT advice needed on range issues with new Model X.

Also, I log data myself (into google sheets) so I track my efficiency over time. The presentation here is ugly but it gets the point across. Around 12,500mi (x-axis) I moved to a hilly place in the Fall and you can see my efficiency got really bad (relative to where it was before) and...

URGENT advice needed on range issues with new Model X.

I find this table helpful: Tesla Range Table - Teslike.com Generally, I have never achieved the range Tesla advertises in 75D Model S. I have the 20" wheels, and I am determined to one day figure out how to measure how much energy they "cost" because I suspect it's substantial. Disappointed...

    V10 on MCU1

Exactly. It doesn't respect direction, right-of-way, line markings (like painted spaces), or really anything that isn't a hard obstacle. It just drives directly to where you are trying not to hit anything (and sometimes does so backwards). This is totally impractical in any situation except...

MCU is dead, car is bricked, Tesla is being unforgivably terrible

Final update: I got the car back yesterday so it was gone 11 days in total. The MCU was replaced and all seems back to normal. I feel conflicted about sharing the SC. 1) Coincidence or not, shortly after this post they got their act together and I am getting daily updates and 2) even though I hated to call anyone out, a Company is one thing but a few (potentially overworked, under resourced) individuals is another. Coincidence, or perhaps folks from Tesla monitor these forums, but minutes after I posted I got a text and then a phone call. Once I talked to a human they were great. Possible to disable rear trunk opening via key?

Is it possible to disable the key fob button that opens the rear trunk / tailgate? I now have a metal structure above my car and am afraid if the trunk is accidentally opened (has happened a couple times over the years when the key is in my pocket) it'll open into the metal and shatter the glass.

Looking for some wisdom for choosing 75D vs 100D

Wat? The 100D 0.1s faster than the 75D - 4.1s vs 4.2s. Imperceptible. So absolutely not "substantially quicker." The 100D will charge faster because of the battery pack. This matters most when supercharging and is a nice benefit.

    Why I Won't Be Purchasing My 3rd Model S

Worse. The exhaust notes in an M5 are fake, piped in through the audio system. As a former NA in-line 6 and then V8 M3 owner, this was the moment I mentally broke up with BMW. Why they thought it was OK to create a fake exhaust note for the cabin I have no idea, but says everything about...

Looking for some wisdom for choosing 75D vs 100D

This is very true, though I think 200 is a bit low. Probably in the 210-215 range. Yes. In the bottom left chart you can see the times it charged up to 259 and near 259. But you can also see how the peaks are decreasing.

Looking for some wisdom for choosing 75D vs 100D

See below for data I've collected on my MS 75D (I started collecting at ~2700mi). This is what I have learned in 10 months of ownership. 1) You cannot count on 259 miles of range. If you look at the bottom right chart you can see my efficiency in Wh/mi. The rated range (259 miles) requires ~280...
