Anyone still rocking a Pi Zero W smart drive for TeslaCam on Sentry Mode?

I am running marcone's teslausb Buster release through the Jeda USB hub. I was having "USB too slow" issues on the June release after 2019.32.12 (v10). I reimaged to Buster two days ago, no issues so far.

    OBD2 port options

I built a GPS-based HUD for my Model 3 before the EVTV adapter was released. My only problem with that is that GPS speedometers will always have a 1-2 second lag. With OBD2, what you see in the speedometer will match the center screen display, so it is not jarring.

    OBD2 port options

I don't know if it works. I have the EVTV one that I use for my DIY HUD. I bought it months ago, when the EVTV one was the only product on the market.

How to talk to Google Assistant?

I am looking for a similar solution, and got excited about this. But it won't work to trigger Google Assistant apparently. From the Customer Q&A section of the listing:

    Power Frunk by TeslaOffer

In my experience, tapping into the CAN wires was one of the simpler steps of the auto trunk installation. Removing the bumper to place the foot sensor and putting it back on, and passing the wires to the trunk button were much harder tasks for me. Tapping the CAN wires with positaps was very simple.

    Power Frunk by TeslaOffer

But you can close it from the driver's seat with the TeslaOffer kit with their button. It's not from the touchscreen though. I prefer the TeslaOffer approach because I get the convenience of closing the trunk from the driver's seat, while knowing that any time the trunk is not actually closed...

    V10 50gb/month data limit?

Same here. Was on 32.1, got bumped up to 32.2.2 last night. I bought FSD a few months ago, don't know when I will get V10, hope it is soon!

I have the same experience. Their support is wonderful. They always reply quickly, and their support with audio and video and reviewing your installation pictures made me feel like they were right with me as I was installing it.

    Rear Bumper Reinstall Help Request

This is an easy one to fix, just need to visually line up both the sides with the plastic and "carpet" with the "carpet" inside the plastic of the bumper and inside the undercarriage plastic piece. It is much easier to do if you have another person to help, but I was able to do it solo after a...

    Rear Bumper Reinstall Help Request

I just recently learned how to remove the bumper and put it back. First attempt to put it back on, it lined up properly at the top, but on the bottom one of the three 10mm hex bolts (the one towards the driver side) wouldn't go in. The problem was with that the plastic piece at the bottom...

How to optimize sentry mode review?

I have a complicated set up. I have a Raspberry Pi Zero W in the car running teslausb. It transfers the sentry clips to a Jetson Nano running at home. That computer merges the three videos for each timestamp into one, and then creates a five-second preview of the video. The Nano also serves a...

    Politics - Quarantine Thread

Epidemic of Model 3 small window break-ins

I plan on doing this after I get my car back from the shop. Until I can come up with a good locking mechanism for the rear seats, I will just keep them down. And add zero-deductible glass-only replacement coverage to my insurance.
  16. P

Epidemic of Model 3 small window break-ins

My insurance agent told me the same thing yesterday. That it is a very common to see that exact glass broken on Teslas. So much so that body shops find it hard to get enough spares to take care of all the cars coming in. He has seen wait times of 2-3 weeks.

Epidemic of Model 3 small window break-ins

I have been dabbling in 3d modeling for a couple of months, so I think I can come up with something. Will get on it once I get my car back from the shop. Will ping you after for help with testing whatI come up with.
  18. P

Epidemic of Model 3 small window break-ins

Estimate is $650. The shop happened to have the part in stock fortunately, apparently there is a shortage of these pieces of glass. My deductible is $500 so that's the hit on my wallet.

Epidemic of Model 3 small window break-ins

This is a good idea, I am going to try to come up with something for this. And I will put a note in that quarter window that seat can't be pulled down.

Epidemic of Model 3 small window break-ins

That first picture could have been mine. Same color, exact same way my car was broken into over the weekend. Now it is at the shop for that quarter glass to be replaced.

Smart USB dashcam: upload selected files to Google Drive from the car browser

I saw a couple of reddit threads on using a Raspberry Pi Zero W as a smart USB drive for the dashcam. I wanted to have the ability to select individual videos, rename them, and upload them to Google Drive, all straight from the browser in the car display. Check out this reddit thread: Upload...

Supercharger - Emeryville, CA - Powell Street Plaza (LIVE 28 Mar 2020, 12 V3 stalls)

My take on sunglass storage in the center console

I uploaded a new version of this with walls that are 2mm thick. This version is more tolerant of printing issues like small layer shifts. There is now an OpenSCAD file on the Thingiverse listing that lets you customize the depth and other parameters if you want to.

My take on sunglass storage in the center console

Not sure about PETG, but they definitely print in ABS. ABS works just as well as PETG for this purpose.

My take on sunglass storage in the center console

I have finally figured out how to print decent quality with PETG on my 3D printer. It took many days, but I am glad I got it working. I have updated the Thingiverse listing with new pictures, and removed the old STL file that wasn't a great fit. I have uploaded a document that can help...

    Auto lock behavior

I was driving today to run some errands, with my wife in the passenger seat. I stopped for her to drop off the laundry, and waited for her with the brake on "hold" without putting the car in P. She comes back and I drive off. About 5 minutes later I noticed that the car was no locked. I know...

My take on sunglass storage in the center console

I am still working out how to produce it with the right quality and adhesion with my new printer and PETG filament. It printed well with the PLA filament that came with the printer, but that won't hold up well in the summer heat inside the car. I am learning by playing with settings, but each...

My take on sunglass storage in the center console

How I set up USB-C fast charging in the phone dock

I had to change my setup again because the suction cup mount from Amazon above shakes way too much while the car is moving. It makes it very hard to use the phone for Waze. So I got this suction cup mount from ProClip and mounted it on the back on the screen. Here is how my setup looks now...

My take on sunglass storage in the center console

That is correct. I used this adhesive-backed satin lining paper. I manually applied it using a ruler and a pair of scissors. You don't have to do it with a lot of precision for it to look quite decent.

My take on sunglass storage in the center console

I uploaded my STL file to Thingiverse. It won't let me publish it just yet because I just signed up for an account -- I have to wait a day to publish it. Is there a particular group on Thingiverse for items designed for the Model 3?

My take on sunglass storage in the center console

I am just getting into 3D printing. The tray was my very first design. I just ordered a 3D printer. I will design a cup holder insert over the weekend once I have my printer.
  42. P

My take on sunglass storage in the center console

I don't have a 3D printer. So I won't be able to produce these for people. I will share the STL file and you can use makexyz or 3DHubs to get it made and mailed to you.
  43. P

My take on sunglass storage in the center console

Yes I will share the STL file. Let me figure out how to upload it on Thingiverse.

    Q4 Base model outlook

I applied for the sticker the day after I picked up the car, and I got the sticker a month after pickup. My take on sunglass storage in the center console

I was inspired by chojn1's excellent idea for a tray in the center console. I wanted to have a tissue box in the same area and have access to it, while being able to store my sunglasses, work ID, keys and pen there. Here is what I came up with. This is the top view... I am having trouble...

Trunk "side pocket" size Model 3 vs. Model S

I keep my UMC in the empty space on the left of the trunk that is not covered by the trunk mat. Right now the UMC sits there sticking out randomly. How I set up USB-C fast charging in the phone dock

I didn't measure it with an ammeter. On my evening commute of 45 minutes, I didn't see the charge go up even to 40% from the 30% start when plugged in. Now it goes from 30% to over 85% in that time.
