The shudder problem: Current status (end of February 2020)

Pretty good technical explanation of tire wear and shudder problems. fast forward to ~22 minute mark for shudder discussion

The shudder problem: Current status (end of February 2020)

The real question is why are we all accepting this, and what can we do about it? There's literally thousands of $100k+ cars riding around with an obvious mechanical issue. Are we all just so jaded by Tesla fandom that we just roll over and take it? Should we be emailing tesla support en...

The shudder problem: Current status (end of February 2020)

I agree, in general, that it isn't a show stopper. What would give me pause however is if the "next gen" fixes the problem. These ravens won't be worth much on the used market IMHO.

The shudder problem: Current status (end of February 2020)

I'd say we put 1,500 miles/mo on it. Mostly hwy. No towing. Normal acceleration with ride height normal. Absolutely nothing out of the ordinary.

Shudder is back. Fix lasted a little over 1 month.

The shudder problem: Current status (end of February 2020)

At first, they said no more repairs until there was a permanent fix. The shudder got so bad at 30 mph that it was un-driveable so I opened up another strongly worded incident and they performed the axle replacement. Note, this is the second time the axles have been replaced on this car.

The shudder problem: Current status (end of February 2020)

Update: SC replaced both front axles and performed a 4-wheel alignment. Fixed the shudder on my 2019 Raven X. We'll see how long it lasts.

The shudder problem: Current status (end of February 2020)

Maybe i missed something. Are you saying the alignment had an impact on a shudder problem?

The shudder problem: Current status (end of February 2020)

I've been trying this on every one of his tweets lately. Starting to get hate from the community for asking. That's one thing I dislike about Tesla twitter. You cannot be intellectually honest without being dubbed a "hater". It's an Elon praise contest to a degree. The cars are not perfect...

The shudder problem: Current status (end of February 2020)

Crazy coincidence. My situation is exactly the same. Purchased a Raven X July 2019. Shudder showed up soon thereafter and they eventually replaced the half shafts (after ordering the wrong side once). Shudder went away, but is now back. SC telling me that they aren't scheduling any more...

Seeking suggestions on what year model S to purchase

For me, the newer MCU would be a must. That means a car mfg after March, 2018.

MX Smart Summon worse than other models?

Interesting thought. That would explain why it works better on my older S. Do you guys have access to a non-X to test the theory that it works better on other models?

    MCU2 Streaming Video Support

    LMAO. Same bro, same.

MX Smart Summon worse than other models?

I personally find Smart Summon pretty pointless on it's own merit, but definitely see it as an incremental step towards FSD. That said, the feature works WAY better on my older Model S than it does on my new Model X. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe its the camera/radar height/angle or...

    "Raven" Shudder

I know there is a loooong shudder thread here already, but there are so many replies it's hard to find like for like comparisons. Has anyone noticed the shudder on a Raven X? I took delivery in July 2019 and mine has gotten progressively worse when on Standard height. She shudders even when...

    WTB: All weather floor mats

DCGOO is right. There's not much difference in the Tesla all weather mats and the WeatherTech. I wouldn't say they are ugly, but I'm accustomed to these mats in my vehicle. Quick List..... Pros (in priority order) Large velcro pads on the underside of the mat keep them from sliding. Once...

HELP! Wiper fluid pump stuck on.

I think you nailed it. They really don't know what failed so they replaced it all. So true. That would've been great in the middle of the night.:)

    WTB: All weather floor mats

I have had weathertech in every vehicle I've owned for years, and have them in my Model S. They fit ok in the S, but are so rigid that the edges and corners tend not to lay flat on the carpet over time. I wanted to try something different so I just ordered the Tesla ones for my X. Will let...

Nope. Once the pump finally stopped running, the button worked normally.

    Model X Tow Hitch

Correct. I am using the Tesla provided RECEIVER with one of my existing hitch/ball mounts. Mystery solved. I have a few of these hitches.....like 5. Just so happens, the one I decided to take with me last weekend to use in the X didn't fit. It's the newest one (no scratches) so of course I...

    Model X Tow Hitch

I'll take some photos when I get the X back (in service) so you guys can see what i'm talking about. It's a standard 2" x 2" square "male" Reese ball mount and it will not fit into the Tesla "female" receiver. Crazy, I know.
  25. jewilson2

HELP! Wiper fluid pump stuck on.

They just finished it up today. Haven't picked it up yet, but looks like they replaced the pump and the steering column wiper control.
  26. jewilson2

    Model X Tow Hitch

First time attempting to use the hitch this weekend. My standard hitches do not fit in the Model X receiver. I thought it was the standard "Reese style" 2" x 2" but it doesn't fit. They fit in all my other vehicles though. Has anyone else experienced this? Are we supposed to be using a...

    Window roll down issues

Anyone had trouble with their MX windows either not rolling down at all or being super slow with a loud squeaking sound? Almost like they are in a bind. SC wants to replace the exterior window sills but I just had the think wrapped (with chrome delete) so i'm hesitant since they cannot...

Tesla hasn't given me my supercharger miles after 2 referrals

Ah! I didn't look in the loot box. i was looking at the charging info on my account and it said 'pay as you go'. I supposed that is after i use up the miles in my loot box. Thanks!

Tesla hasn't given me my supercharger miles after 2 referrals

I'm having the same issue, sort of. I used my own referral code to buy a 2nd Tesla during a promo. When delivered, the second car showed 5000 free SC Miles. I even used some of them. Since then, they disappeared and I'm showing "pay as you go" on the car's account. zero response to...

    MCU, EAP, FSD, HW3, ???

Good Morning. Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question(s)...... I have a Model S with EAP built in 02/2018. I also have a brand new MX that I just took delivery of in 07/2019. The UI is night and day in terms of speed so it got me to thinking/researching. I'm gathering that my S...

    LTE Signal Meter/Hardware question(s)

I never paid much attention to this in my 2018 Model S because AT&T is terrible in my area and the streaming stuff typically works ok....BUT I just took delivery of a new (Raven) ModelX and the LTE signal is way stronger than my S. In fact, everything about the interface in the X is quicker &...

    Raven only charges at 48A...

Really? I thought the "Raven" moniker was relative to the new drive train, which went into both. No?

    Using a Gen 1 Charger

Hi all. I have a Gen 1 mobile charger that came with a nema 14-50 adapter. I recently purchased a Raven X, that came with a Gen 2 charger, but no adapters. They are also sold out online. So my question is, any issues using the Gen 1 charger/adapter for a 14-50 plugin on the new X? Anyone...

    Raven only charges at 48A...

Sorry all. I totally confused things with the 42A comment. It's definitely charging at 48A. I think I had it set to 42A max by mistake and was viewing the charge progress on the app.
  42. jewilson2

    Raven only charges at 48A...

Agreed. Not complaining, but was surprised when I plugged it in. I'm going with a second HPWC on the same circuit and will let them load balance.

Looking to buy a Gen2 NEMA 14-50 mobile charge adapter

    Raven only charges at 48A...

...Edit.... 42A I guess I missed this in all of my ordering excitement, but my new Raven X will only charge at a max of 42A on my home HPWC. My 2018 S will do 72A. So glad I didn't spring for another 90A circuit in my garage :)

Sometimes you just have to make your own luck. I Ordered 5/22 and not a peep since then. Online sales advisor had no information whatsoever. At the behest of my impatiently excited son, I decided to stop by the local sales office. They look up my information and all concur that "wow, you...

    Service Center communication is terrible

Jeez, has this gotten worse over the past couple of months. You set an appointment via the app, they text you that they are swapping to mobile service and cancel the in-store appointment. Then, you cannot get anyone to answer the text message or the phone (locally) to confirm/give an update...
