Interesting, wonder if my car is on any of these. Just been informed by Tesla that my x will eta Heathrow 2nd week September and I will be informed about specific delivery time when it arrives at port of Southampton. Incidentally I received the Vin on 15/07.

That's interesting, I have an X on the way and also received a VIN on the 15th. Haven't been given a delivery estimate yet but its probably similar to yours in that case. FYI none of these ships will have our cars on board, the X goes via train to Houston and then shipped from there in a container (covered many times on this thread)

@Vedaprime is tracking mine, am expecting a progress update any time now.

What you say is true, however they do use these ships to move the cars from Zeebrugge to Southampton.

Tesla Chat advised I've been assigned a car (No VIN until 5 days before delivery), and that I'll get it in the first two weeks of September.
Trying to work out which ship it's likely to be on.

Tesla sent me the "your car is nearly here, check out these videos" text today. Called Delivery, they also said first 2 weeks of September but wouldn't give me VIN yet as they said it's not confirmed.

I'm guessing our cars are on the same boat....probably GLOVIS CAPTAIN then? Feels a bit early for them to be releasing car info for the GLOVIS SPLENDOR?

I had the same text earlier today and my car in on the GLOVIS SUN and due to be delivered to me on 14th Aug!

Any of these ships contain model s? Ordered a red with cream on July 9th and was told it would arrive in September here in Norway. I'm just wondering what ship to follow as I remember a few pages back that someone said all of the current ones would be model 3s.

Thanks!

If you are waiting for MODEL S or Model X

Although Model S and Model X are made in the same factory as the Model 3 their delivery journey to you is markedly different.

Both Model S and X are shipped partly assembled in containers (3 to a container).

They are moved by road from the factory to the Oakland Joint Intermodal Terminal where they are loaded on to a train.

The train then takes about 9 days to travel to Houston. (actually BNSF Pearland). They are then moved by road to the dock at Barbers Cut where they are then loaded on to a scheduled container ship that eventually arrives 15 days later in Rotterdam. There the containers are moved by road (or barge) to Tilburg in Holland. Your car is removed from the container and then joins a mini production line where it is reassembled. It is then moved to Zeebrugge and shipped to Southampton.

As can be seen, all this takes time.

Finding your car in this complex logistics chain is difficult but there is a man who can. @Vedaprime is the specialist in this area. You can find him here but he normally resides on Twitter.

GLOVIS CAPTAIN COMPETITION

I was pondering whether to change the format but let's not complicate it - this is simple.

All you have to do is decide which gridsquare GLOVIS CAPTAIN wil be in at midday UTC on 15 Aug 20.
It's free to enter and there is no prize, except the unbounded adulation of other forum members.
The rules are:
Only 1 entry per person
Only the 1st person to claim a gridsquare will own it. (so enter early!)
Mr Miserable will decide the closest entry and in the event of a tie will choose the earliest entry. (so enter early!)
The competition will close for entries once GLOVIS CAPTAIN enters the Panama Canal
It's just a bit of fun!

CLUE: The ship will be going from Panama (bottom left) to Belgium (top right).

I see GLOVIS SUN has finally appeared on the Zeebrugge arrrivals board.
She is scheduled for a 1am arrival on Wed morning and a departure for Southampton at 22:00 on Thursday night.
She will unload at Quai 509.

GRAND DAHLIA is still showing on the board as arriving on the 15th despite the fact that she will actually arrive on the 13th.

Nothing for GLOVIS CAPTAIN yet.

I have just heard from San Francisco that GLOVIS SPLENDOR will have completed loading by tomorrow night!
On past form that means we can expect her to depart in the small hours of Wednesday morning.
On that basis I will revise my ETA Zeebrugge to 26 Aug.

Such a short loading time is usually indicative of a departure to the Far East however all the indications are that she is coming to Europe.

Alarm bells are ringing!
GLOVIS SPLENDOR may be heading off to the Far East!
You will recall that I mentioned GLOVIS SPLENDOR was looking good to be the 1st ship of Q4 - this was based on a schedule that was still being published as late as last Friday however today it is all change and GLOVIS SPLENDOR does not feature in it at all. I will do some more checking tomorrow but the very quick load has Far East written all over it.

GLOVIS CAPTAIN about to go dark for 4 days or so, judging by behaviour of the DAHLIA - pretty sure the CAPTAIN is my target tracker.

For those who haven’t spotted it, you can register alerts using free “credits” if you set up a MarineTraffic account, these alerts can tell you all sorts but most simply can tell you when a ship appears and disappears on the land-based AIS tracking.

If like me you have been fondly gazing at ships expertly identified by @Mr Miserable for days/weeks/months - you will find this useful as the site can email you when a land-based AIS ping “appears” (or no AIS for 60 minutes occurs).
